Daniel said coldly. The only sounds between the boys were the beeping of the hospital machines as they were both out of sight at the moment.
"It's bad, isn't it?"
Daniel knew the answer but needed to hear his voice. He was calming him down.
"I don't want it like this, Danie."
This time, Callum had already burst into tears and looked at Daniel's helpless body on the hospital bed with despair in his eyes. Daniel didn't want it like that either. He didn't want his beloved Callum to suffer.
"Hey... you'll be fine."
Daniel whispered and the blonde boy sat down in the chair next to him.
"No, I won't, Danie. You won't."
Tears marked paths down his cheeks, until in a moment they were all wet.
"I don't... I don't want you to see me how..."
Daniel tried to stay strong. He really tried, but he couldn't. He couldn't bring himself to keep pretending when all he wanted to do right now was hug Callum and never let him go.
,,No. I will be here. I will be here with you, waiting for miracle."
And so the boys fell asleep in each other's arms
