To Love A Monster

Chapter Twenty-five

Nyx continued to cry as she held onto Raven’s body. Ace started pacing, growing impatient.

“Ah now that’s over, now to deal with you.” He said.

Nyx gave him a look of pure hatred, “Why did she have to die? You had me! Why not let her live?!” She screamed.

Ace just laughed, “To make you suffer of course, you’ll never get the happy ending you want and now, you can join the rest of them in death.”

Nyx laid Raven’s body down gently and rose to her feet. Ace waved his hand and the jail opened.

“Come on out, your precious primordial magic wont work here, but if you beg, I might end your life quickly.”

Nyx slowly walked out of the jail, fully intent on dying, but her mothers words floated through her head.

Fight for her.

Embrace your other side.

Nyx locked eyes with her father, “Oh we still have some fight left? Very well, bring it little girl.” He snickered.

Nyx thought of Raven, the sacrifice she made for her, the blood that now flooded through her veins. Her red eyes began to glow as dark smoke came from her fingertips. Ace looked confused and very angry.

“No! Her magic shouldn’t work here!”

Nyx smiled evily, “What you didn’t think of, was that your magic does work here father.” The smoke came out faster as nyx raised her hand, palm towards her father.

“Now feel just a fraction of my pain!” She yelled out as the magic shot forward and encircled Ace, tearing at his cloths and eventually his flesh. He began screaming and yelling.

“No! Damn you!” He yelled out before another blast of black magic hit his back. Aces eyes widened as he stumbled forward, a trickle of blood seeping from his mouth.

Nyx looked to where the blast had come from and saw Erik standing there.

“Erik!” Nyx exclaimed with happiness.

She walked up to her father and seized him by the throat and squeezed.

“Now it’s your turn, no more will you control my life.” His eyes were bugging out of his head.

Nyx focused on her demon side, channeling all her pent up rage into her hand and into her father, he started crying blood, then it strated pouring out of every orifice. Nyx squeezed until his body went limp and Erik was pulling her hand away from his lifeless body.

“It’s done, he’s gone.”

Nyx looked to Erik with tears in her eyes and shook herself out of the trance she was in, Nyx hastily made her way back to Raven’s body. Erik approached them slowly.

“Nyx, we must leave this cave,  I sense it will crumble soon from all the magic we’ve been throwing around.”

Nyx nodded and scooped up Raven, before finally noticing the other girl.

“Wait, we can’t leave here.” Nyx said.

Erik went to the jail and managed to get it open and helped the other young woman to her feet, ushering them all out of the cave, just in time for them to look back and see the rocks fall and lava to fill the room they were just in.

“Th-thank you.” The young girl stuttered.

Finally looking at her the poor thing was bruised and bloodied, old and knew bit marks were all over here body and some were surely going to leave scars.

The moon was full and giving amble light around them to see. Nyx laid there, holding Raven.

“I’m sorry my love, I tried to save you… I tried so hard…”

“Perhaps its not too late.” Avoice said from behind them.

They all turned to see the goddess Nyx standing before them, two other were standing behind her. One dressed in all black, a dark robe covering his face. The other was green all over, she seemed to be made of plants and very beautiful.

Erik bowed and the other young girl fell to her knees and bowed her head to the ground.

“Rise children, it’s us who should bow to you, we’ve tried to get rid of that monster for a long time.” The green lady said.

The night goddess moved forward towards her daughter, “I know what she did for you, how you fought for her, you completed the prophecy… She helped you complete it.”

Nyx wiped some heair from Raven’s face, “But…. I still lost her…”

“Maybe not my child, Thanatos?”

“Thanatos? Father?” Erik gasped out.

The hooded figure came forward, not saying anything but placing his hand on Erik’s shoulder. With just that touch Erik knew his father was proud and he nodded his head.

Thanatos moved forward again, stepping in front of Raven’s body and kneeling, placing his hand over her heart.

A distorted and gravely voice was heard, “Come back young one, your time is not over. Gaia?”

It was then the green lady stepped forward, placing a hand on Raven’s shoulder, “I hereby give you life again, a shared life, a true soulmate, my dear?” She asked, holding out her hand to have Nyx take it.

Once Nyx grabbed her hand, a part of her purple aura left Nyx’s lips and went into Raven’s, a deep humming was heard and then Raven took a deep breath in, gasping out and her eyes fluttering open.

“Nyx?” she coughed.

“Oh my love!” Nyx exclaimed and hugged her close.

The deities all stepped back to give them room until Gaia spoke up, “So we’re even now yes?” She asked the goddess of night.

“Yes, thank you both for coming and helping.” She said and Gaia disappeared, but Thanatos nodded to his son before he too disappeared.

Raven looked around in confusion, “What happened, where are we?”

The goddess moved forward and helped the couple to their feet.

“Well you died dear, but thankfully life and death owed me a favor.” The goddess chuckled.

Raven placed a hand over her heart, “I can… Feel you.” She said curiously.

“Yes, the only way to bring you back was to tie your life to another. Your souls are connected and cannot be separated. Of course that means even in death, so you must also be more careful, for when one of you dies, so will the other. The same can be said for life, as one lives, so does the other.”

“So that means?...” Raven asked.

“You’re immortal too.” Nyx smiled at her, taking her face and kissing her slowly.

The goddess cleared her thoat and the couple separated for a monet.

“I must go my daughter, please live your life with your love. Enjoy everything life has to offer.” She barely got the words out before she faded away.

Raven held onto Nyx and asked, “What happened to?”

Nyx cut her off, “He’s gone, thats all you need to worry about, he can’t get you anymore.”

Raven nodded her head and her head started swimming then, she passed out.
