yuri sat at the lunch table, all alone as she picked at her food.
"um hi," the new girl, julia, said as she came to stand next to yuri with her food tray in hand, "i don't really know anything else in korean but i just wanted to say i really like your backpack! the pins are very cute."
"oh thank you," yuri responded in english, glancing down at her backpack, "and the korean thing, it's okay. i speak english."
"woah, your english is really good."
"i'm from canada," yuri told her, used to the comment, "i moved here a few years back."
"oh really? that's such a relief," the girl said, dropping down in the seat in front of yuri, "i thought i was going to have so much trouble making friends with the whole language barrier thing."
"i should probably introduce myself. i'm julia," she held her hand out over the table, "wanna be friends?"
"sure," yuri smiled back at her, shaking her hand, "i'm steph. nice to meet you julia."

"steph?" julia muttered, laying her head down on the desk as she looked up at the dark haired girl.
"hm?" yuri hummed, focusing down on the homework she had forgotten to do the prior night.
