2003

Marcus Volturi sat in his favourite armchair, engrossed in an ancient manuscript, its pages yellowed with age that had captivated him from the first page. His glasses perched on the bridge of his nose and his fingers gently turned each page as he delved deeper into the story. The room was bathed in soft, golden light and the only sound was the faint rustling of pages.

Mavis, feeling mischievous, tip-toed into the room, trying to suppress a grin. She was determined to see if she could distract her lover without causing too much annoyance. She tiptoed closer, her heart pounding with excitement until she stood right behind him.

Just as Marcus was about to turn the page, the blonde fae leaned over, her lips gently brushing his earlobe as she whispered in a sultry voice, "You know, there are better stories than that book right here." Her fingers trailed down his back as she tried to seduce his attention away from the pages.

Marcus jumped, nearly dropping his book in surprise. He looked up, his ruby eyes wide and then burst into laughter. Mavis couldn't help but laugh along with him.

"You certainly know how to break my concentration," the dark-haired king said, closing the book and placing it on the side table. He stood up and pulled Mavis into his arms, giving her a tender kiss on the cheek.

"I couldn't resist," Mavis confessed, feeling her cheeks flush with embarrassment and delight.

Marcus smiled, his eyes twinkling with affection. "Well, you've certainly succeeded in getting my attention," he said. "What do you have in mind to replace this story?"

The fae fiddled with her king's shirt, thinking whether she should voice her request to him. "Well," she trailed absentmindedly. "Yes?" Marcus whispered, his hold on her waist tightened and he rested his forehead against her. "Tesoro, what is it that you want? You can tell me anything. I will provide it to your heart's content."

"No one has shown me around the castle yet" Mavis pouted. For the past few days she had been here, her kings were quite occupied with trials and meetings with other covens.

She could only meet them in the morning when she was having her breakfast and by the time their meetings ended, she was already asleep. It wasn't an easy task to gather all of her three kings together.

Caius often busied himself torturing nomads who violated the laws while Aro had to supervise the entire coven's welfare. Marcus was the only soulmate of hers that she could effortlessly find just like this moment.
