Trance - Metro Boomin

"Ich gelogen."

It was the one phrase I remember from last night, as weird as it was.

I don't know what happened to her last night but one moment Evie's dozed off next to me on the couch, and the next she's frantically on the phone with someone at two in the morning.

I couldn't catch the name as I opened the door to my room, but the second she noticed I'd entered, she ended the phone call with that sentence.

Again, I can infer anything about it because it sounded like a bunch of gibberish, but the look on her face was overly stressed.

I'm probably pronouncing it in my head wrong anyways, so there's no way I can translate what she said.

But that doesn't mean there isn't room to try.

So after discarding the pillow she unecessarily put in between us last night, I get up at the crack of dawn and grab my phone to do a quick google search.

Not having any idea what language she could be speaking I start with her last name. Adler.

The small box pops up and informs me that it's of German origin.

Okay, that's a start.

Now to google translate, but with my awful memory and lacking mental reiteration, I have no luck.

All I was able to come up with was that she said "I" but that doesn't really help in the grand scheme of things.

Neither does walking out of the room to see all of my roommates huddled around the kitchen counter. The three of them look at me and with Matt's amateur ability to hide his facial expressions, I know I'm in for a shitshow.

"Oh what now?" I heave a sigh and turn directly towards the coffee pot, not in the mood to talk without some caffeine in my system.

Mid-pour Matt speaks up. "Looks like you're moving kinda fast there Cap." I turn to them with a confused look on my face. "What's next? Popping the question?"

I leave them with silence as I chug back half my cup. "What are you talking about?"

"Nothing...just how we found you and Evie cuddled up on the couch last night." Aiden mentions, his tone playful and yet taunting at the same time.

"Anything you want to say about that?" Jordan adds onto their interrogation.

"Not really, nothing happened." I act indifferent towards them hoping that if I act like I don't care-which I partially don't-they'll give it up.

"Oh c'mon man," Aiden presses on despite my act. "That's like some cliche shit my sister reads about. With couples and all that stuff."

"Well this isn't a book." I tell him but it goes unacknowledged due to Matt's increased interest in Aiden's sister.

"How is your sister?" Matt asks, looking way more intrigued about her rather than what they saw last night. "You know, she still hasn't accepted my follow request."

Aiden groans as the topic transitions to his older sister. "For the last time Matt, you aren't her type."

"And who said that? You or her?" Matt urges him to clarify.

"She did." Aiden tells him.

"Oh c'mon, that's not true." Matt briefly laughs but stops when he's met with complete silence from all of us. "That's not true...right?"
