Harry PoV

I watched as Percy walked over to the Gryffindor table, either ignoring or not noticing the giggles and batting of lashes directed at him. He sat down next to me and drummed his fingers on the table.

"Hi, I'm Percy." He stuck his hand out, smiling slightly. I was still suspicious of him, but I didn't want to seem rude. Shaking his hand, I noticed the subtle callouses.

"Harry, Harry Potter." I waited for his reaction. He nodded his head once and sent me another smile.

"Nice to meet you. Are those two over there staring at me like I'm a suspect of their murdered, pet dog your friends?" I turned to look at Ron and Hermione who were blushing. I felt my cheeks flare because, yes, they were. Way to not make it obvious that we find him suspicious, I thought sarcastically. I sent a meaningful look in their direction. Turning back to Percy, I decided to approach at a different angle.

"Yeah, they are. Sorry about that, mate. So, Percy, where you from?" He casually slipped his hand into his right pocket and brought out a pen, twirling it with his fingers.

"New York. It's in the United States, which apparently I'm no longer in." His tone was bitter and an emotion, too quick for me to catch, flitted through his eyes. I nodded as I knew what it felt like to be thrust into a new world. However, in these times it was hard not be wary and I couldn't help but be suspicious. The circumstances of his arrival was peculiar and when it came to me, peculiar usually led to something bad.

"Did you go to a wizarding school there? What was it called?" Percy shook his head, fiddling the pen still.

"I only just now found out that wizards exist, I don't even know how I got here." It wasn't hard to believe, I had seen it with my own eyes, but it was baffling that he would fall through the ceiling. How did he even survive that fall? The only way would be magic, but he had no prior knowledge of the magical world. Percy could be telling the truth, or he was a Death Eater in disguise. I glanced down at his wrist and my unofficial Death Eater theory came back. I tried to shake the thought. Percy was either innocent, or he had it really well hidden.

"Blimey, it must've been a shock. How was your life back in America?" My sympathy was only partially genuine, and for some reason, that made me feel guilty. The feeling faded enough for my hands to stop twisting under the table, my fingers aching from the pulling and tugging.

"A shock?" Percy scoffed and shook his head. "Yeah, you could say that. I'm here and there's nothing I can do. I don't even know how this happened and I can't even leave because apparently I'm a wizard. Supposedly, if I was a muggle— and I don't even know what that means— Jeffrey wouldn't have sorted me. Gods, everyone's probably so worried. My girlfriend is so going to murder me when I get back— heck, so are my cousins probably. I feel so loved." He ended sarcastically, a small smile on his face. His girlfriend and family were going to murder him? Though, his air of nonchalance about the situation told me he was exaggerating.

"What are they like?" Percy shrugged, eyes glazing to reminisce.

"My girlfriend—Annabeth, is the smartest and most wonderful girl on the planet. She has blonde curls and beautiful, stormy, grey eyes. She keeps me from doing stupid stuff and is really supportive. She's the best girlfriend anyone could ask for and I love her.

"My cousins are like siblings to me. Thalia is tough, supportive, protective, and not to mention a Pinecone-face—" at this he quietly laughed. "— but I love her and am glad she's my cousin. Jason is Thalia's brother. He's like the blond superman." He laughed quietly again. Why do they all have weird nicknames? "He has blonde hair and the same eyes as his sister. He's really calm and collective, but just as supportive and protective, especially with his girlfriend Pipes. I guess we're all kind of like that. He's really dependable and always flies to the rescue." At this he started chuckling. I sat there, bewildered as he laughed at his jokes, but I didn't understand them. Maybe they were inside jokes. He wiped his eyes, sighing happily. "I'm too much for myself.

"Then there's Hazel. She's really motherly and protective, especially of her boyfriend. She's reassuring and calming and gentle. And super sweet. Don't let that fool you though. She's not afraid to get dirty both literally and figuratively. She has a horse names Arion—" He whistled. "— that horse has a mouth on him. But mostly she's and angel. She has curly brown hair and sparkling brown eyes.

"And last but not least is Baby Neeks, even though he's the second youngest. We call him Neeks, Death Breath, or sometimes Nico—which is his actual name. He might seem scary, but he's harmless. Somewhat. Barely. That's not the point though. He doesn't really talk to people outside the fourteen, but that just means we get him all to ourselves. He's kinda dorky—" at this he gave a small smile. "—but that's part of what makes him Baby Neeks. He's protective and kinda shy—especially around Will—and is so Neeks. But he's also tough and mischievious.

"We all have nicknames that either originate from our names, originates from our personality, or originates from events or memories. I guess you could say we're all sarcastic, except for Hazel and Jason. Jason is sarcastic but not as much as me, my girlfriend, Thalia, or Nico. We're all really close, closer than we are to everyone else in the fourteen— and that's pretty close— and are really protective and defensive of each other. But to be honest, without Annabeth, Hazel or Jason, we'd be constantly brawling. You'd love them, I do."

I noticed how he was constantly gesturing while he talked and how his eyes shone when I brought up the topic. I didn't think he even noticed that we were walking to the common room. Percy talked so happily about them, as if they were his world. Percy didn't seem like a Death Eater the way he talked about them, or the way his eyes shone the entire time he talked about them.

Surely, a Death Eater couldn't talk so kindly and loving about his girlfriend and cousins the way he did. You could hear the strong bond and love he had for them- no Death Eater could display such large quantities of love and positive emotion that Percy did, no matter how good an actor. I now knew he wasn't a Death Eater, but there was something. Something different.

Percy had a calming aura and the smell of the sea clung to him like a leech. His presence was soothing and relaxing and he was authoritative without even trying or noticing. There was something about him, something about him that he was hiding. But I couldn't help but smile genuinely and enjoy his presence and enthusiasm as he talked about funny memories he had with them. Hogwarts had a new member on board, but I don't think he's so bad.
