Amy took in a deep breath. It was hard to do what she had just done, and it took a painful toll on her mentally to see the light being snatched away from hopeful eyes.

Yes, it felt wrong of her to ask Sam to leave the house, to find another place to stay, at least temporarily. She had not right to kick him out of the house.

However, she needed space. From him, from their strange world, heck, maybe even from Sierra.

But she could never do that to the person she considered her sister. After all, she was the only family Amy had left, even if she wasn't family at all.

Now, as she slept on her comfortable bed, hearing the hushed voices of Sam and Sierra discussing things as they packed his stuff away, she couldn't help but feel she had been too impatient and stubborn, selfish even.

Why should he leave the house just because she couldn't take the truth? Just because she was a baby and couldn't handle it? No. She should have left the house instead.

Then, her mind flashed back to the moment she had walked into the house a few hours ago. The disappointment on Sam's face as he smelt the scent of another man on her and the anger and recognition in Sierra's eyes made her rethink.

She was not going to stay with a man who would have problems with her having guy friends.

Or maybe he was just disappointed because he told you he would fight for you and you left instead for someone else, her mind taunted.

Amy frowned to herself. She was being silly and overthinking everything. She still had school tomorrow, she didn't need to waste the night away worrying about this and yet, that was exactly what she did.

After countless tossing and turning, she sat up on her bed. Slowly, she tiptoed out of her bedroom and made her way to the kitchen, crossing her legs and sitting on the floor in the dark.

As she rested her head on one of the kitchen counters, a soft murmur startled her.

"Couldn't sleep?" Sam asked gently as he took a seat next to her.

His voice was hoarse and Amy knew for sure that he had been crying. After all, she had heard it from her own bedroom, trying to ignore the sound.

"Yeah, I was just thinking. You?" Amy replied, pursing her lips.

"I was... thinking too. There were a few things that I really wanted the answers to, so I decided to spend the night mulling over them long enough to actually get the courage to ask for answers," he said, hinting at Amy that he wanted to ask her a few questions.

Amy sighed internally. She had anticipated this, she knew he was going to ask her how she was so selfish to kick him out of the house.

"Do you love him?" Sam asked, making Amy's eyes widened.

"Huh? What?" she said, confused. What was he talking about? Was he talking about the guy she knew him to be before she found out the truth?

"Do you love him? The guy you were with before?" He repeated, making Amy feel flustered. She nodded, feeling confused because why was he talking about their date that had been ruined by her?

He looked pained, closing his eyes as he turned away from her. "Then, I won't stop you. I thought I could win your affections but I can't do that if you are already in love with him. I know I promised to win you back but you are not an object and I can't force you to unlove someone you love deeply. I guess this is where we say goodbye then," he stated before walking away.

Amy stared at his back, biting her lips as she thought about his words. What had she been missing? Why was he sad to know that she loved him?

Maybe, he didn't want her to love the new him? Maybe he had wished that Amy fell in love with the person he had been five years ago? But people changed and Amy found it hard to think that Sam would be the same person he was years ago.

Yet never had it once occurred to Amy that maybe Sam had not been talking about himself. Maybe he had been talking about Kevin.

That morning, when Sam left, Amy was soundly asleep in her bed. She didn't stir when Sam came near her bed and bid her goodbye. She didn't move when he kissed her on the head and a tear from his eye fell on her hand. And she didn't even notice his sharp intake of breath as he left the room and made his way out of the house, destined to never come back.

That morning, when Amy awoke, she felt pain everywhere. When she heard the news, she felt even more pain, only this time it was not physical, it was emotional. And when she finally visited him, she couldn't help but break down on how this was all her fault.

She had been the only reason he was living and now that she no longer needed him, he didn't feel the need to exist.
