I dropped the phone. My jaw drops. Outside, was the lying corpse of my mother.

The. Lying. Corpse. Of. My. Dead. Mother.

I step back and slip. I fall on the floor. I hit my head. Everything went black. I could only hear the blurry screams of Rose and Johnathan.

-What's outside of the window John?
-Charlotte.
-Who's Charlotte, is she a friend?
-Charlotte Archer.

I can feel Rose's hands get off of my head. She probably got up to check, because only a few seconds later, I heard her horrified scream.

-WHO WOULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS? HOW DID THEY EVEN GET THE BODY? WHY?

Even tho I couldn't see anything, I could feel tears in the corner of my eyes.

-ROSE SNAP OUT OF IT! We have to bring Tara to the hospital, she probably had a concussion.

I can feel Johnathan's strong arms lifting me up, one arm under my legs and the other one under my back. I could hear fast footsteps, which I guess was Rose running to the car. Everything seemed to be in slow motion. And then, I couldn't hear anything, I couldn't feel anything, I couldn't smell anything.  It was just black.

I woke up a few hours later. My whole body was sore and my head felt like I was being hit a thousand times. I couldn't open my eyes yet, but everything was functional. I could think, I could hear, I could feel. I was from my guess in a hospital bed. Then I heard Nathan coming in.

-Is she okay? What happened? How did she fall? What did the doctors say? Did someone do this to her?
-Nathan calm down!

Rose was calmer now.

-She just had a small concussion, the doctors said it would heal on it's own but they want to keep her on surveillance just in case.
-But she'll be fine?
-Yep.
-How did she even get a concussion?
-...um
-She slipped and fell in the living room, says Johnathan.
-Oh alright. By the way, what happened about her stalker thing? I heard about it at the station.

I hear Rose telling Nathan everything, the threats, the attack, the small accident, everything.

-Why didn't you guys tell me?
-Cause you're her co-worker!
-Yeah but she's not the one telling me, you are.
-Yeah sorry, I just think that risking my life over you knowing is just not worth it.

I couldn't help but smile. Rose's sarcasm never failed to make me laugh. They all stopped arguing and I could feel three pair of eyes looking at me. I'm finally capable of opening slowly my eyes. I don't even have the time to look around before Rose's throws herself hugging me.

-Woah calm down, my head still hurts, I say letting out a laugh
-Oh! Sorry! Did I hurt you?
-No, don't worry, I say smiling

Johnathan hugs me after Rose let's go of me. His touch was warm and firm. He rubbed my back while we we're hugging and whispered in my ear: "I'm glad you're okay." Then it was Nathan's turn and he couldn't help but ask me why I didn't come see him when I still had the time. I just smiled at him and said: it doesn't matter anymore.

Nathan gets a call from our boss, telling him that he needs to come now because there's been a new piece of evidence in the Emily White case. He promises that he will tell me about later and then leaves the room.

Once Nathan leaves, Rose rushes to door and closes the curtain, same with the windows.

-Okay, I know I'm going to ruin the mood, but what the hell was that outside of our window.
-What did you think it was, I say with a annoyed tone.
-We have to tell the police, Johnathan says.
-Boy, I'm the police.
-You know what I mean.
-We can't, the threat probably still stands. I used to not believe it, but now...
-Now we know that whoever is behind this, will do anything without hesitation, even the most horrible things.

We all look at eachother, knowing that this is just the beginning of a series of horrifying events. At least we have eachother, that's all that really matters, right?
