Draft #41 - The Core

The Core is the official gathering location for the Local Group Intergalactic Alliance. It is located in the center of the Andromeda Galaxy, right in the middle of the black hole. There are stars that surround it, flickering blithely and fighting against the demands of the gravity of the black hole until their very last breath. It is truly a sight to behold.

It has taken millennia of research and experiments to find a suitable location within the black hole for their meetings. What has come of it has been named the Core. It is the center of the Alliance, the very place where laws, independencies, and justice have been born. The building that encompasses it is nothing short of breath-taking, merging multiple planets', multiple societies', and multiple species' constructional prowess and expertise together.

Kohgrash thrummed his fingers methodically against the counter impatiently. Rulshkka stood in front of the front window, idly watching the emptiness of space pass by him in an occasional splatter of light and shadow. The trip to the Core was almost over, they'd be upon the building within the hour. And yet...

"I wish we could go faster," Kohgrash exploded into the silence. The captain, a quiet Vokkrus named Rowlm, jumped at the sudden noise, and Kohgrash looked repentant.

"Maybe we could go a smidge faster," Rulshkka allowed. When the captain looked like he was about to throttle the control for speed, he quickly said, "But I do not wish to cause you any undue harm."

"Undue harm," Kohgrash repeated with a sigh. "I'm not recovering from a heart attack now, though."

Rulshkka was about to say that he was still small when Kohgrash whipped his head around to level him with a glare and jab a finger in his direction, "And don't even say anything about my size."

"I was not!" Was he that readable? Or was it just some abnormal power granted to those who knew him closely?

"Your Majesty, Lord Kohgrash," the captain interrupted politely - if a bit warily - bowing low at the waist.

"What's up, Rowlm?" Kohgrash asked cheerfully. Rulshkka had yet to drill some proper behavior into him when it came to addressing other Vokkrus, mostly because it had been dreadful to learn and probably equally as horrible to teach. All humans were rather lax with their affections, Rulshkka had found.

"We are arriving shortly. I would request that you return to your seats as we exit the Drive," Rowlm said with another dip of his head.

The Core was beautiful, and he thought that Kohgrash's reaction suited its beauty.

The seats in The Invader were not as well-placed as the ones in The Salvation, but they still had a nice view out of the front window. The Core was in front of them now, and as they neared closer, Kohgrash gazed on in slack-faced wonderment.

The Core resided in Andromeda's center, hovering bravely in the black hole - aptly named Kindred. Shaped like an upside-down droplet of water, the building was wrapped with bands of metallic rings, hosted solar panels that extended from its sides like majestic wings, and had dozens of ships hovering around its entrances like buzzing insects. It was massive - large enough to have its own gravity and resist the pull of Kindred by way of the combined technologies of the Alliance. The top of the Core was sliced in two, flattened to host the abundance of rooms for its occupants. The bottom tapered off into a flat, stubby tube, which held its power generators. In the middle, right at the building's thickest, lay the grand entrance.

Right where The Invader was headed.

Well, they didn't linger in it for long. As soon as they entered, Rowlm swung the ship around to enter the docking port.
