Chapter 51 - Confused

Elektra's pov:

I got in the car with a heavy heart. Bartholomew's words were full of venom. I know he didn't mean well, but what if there was some truth to it?

-"Where do I go now?" I asked myself.

-"Go to Alexander. Ask him about his feelings for you!" Frostie intervened in my head.

-"Are you nuts? I can't do something like this now!" I contradicted.

-"Why not? If you ask Alexander directly, all your doubts will disappear!" Frostie suggested.

-"I am not ready to face the truth"

-"Why do you prejudge his answer?" Frostie wondered.

-"I don't. I'm just not ready to deal with it right now" I explained.

-"Then where are you going?"

-"I really don't know! I........." I said confused while started the engine of the car and accelerated.

Alexander's pov:

It's been hours since I last spoke to Elektra. I really can't understand her. What's wrong with her? Why is she behaving like this? Ever since we left the elder's cabin, she has been distant and acting strangely. I know she was disappointed that we didn't find a solution to our problem, but together I am sure we will find something. Isolation is certainly not the answer. But if she doesn't want to be with me what can I do? How will I be able to convince her that together we can face everything?

-"Alexander, here is the list with the newborns you asked" a voice interrupted my train of thoughts.

-"Oh, yes...." I said surprised as I didn't realized Steve's presence in the room.

-"Here are also September's financial reports. Since we caught Bartholomew and his gang our economy is rising."

-"I am glad to hear it" I said coldly.

-"I see it...." he said sarcastically.

-"Steve I am really not in a mood right now"

-"What's wrong boss?" he said taking a serious face that made me roll my eyes. I know better that he's always joking around.

-"Elektra is drawing away....."

-"What?" he wondered looking me straight in the eyes.

-"Since she found out that we are mates she does everything to avoid me. I can't deny that I feel great disappointment about this" I confessed.

-"Have you told her about your feelings and concerns?"

-"No, unfortunately she didn't give me the opportunity"

-"Oh! I am sorry man! I hope things will get better eventually!"

-"I really hope so too" I confessed.

Hours passed smoothly with me taking care of all the pending matters. When night came I was so tired I couldn't even walk to my room. It wasn't that I was tired of my work, but mainly because of Elektra's behavior, which was absolutely nerve-wracking for me.

I laid down on my bed and let sleep overtake me.

Elektra's pov:

After doing circles with my car I decided to return to the Black Shadow pack. Although I had designated David as the Alpha and had nothing to do there, I didn't feel ready to see Alexander again. Bartholomew's words affected me more than I expected. I needed time and space to think.
