Sometimes,
the echoes in my head
are too loud,
too unbearable,
too undeniable

Grabbing the fork for herself, she took a bite of the mouthwatering cheesecake she had baked last night that still tasted as fresh and delicious as it did that time.

Taking a sip from the coffee mug, she slightly titled her head giving a side peek to her mother's frame who sat there with her frame tense and brows knitted, her figure emitting a cold chilling aura as she silently sipped her tea.

Her reluctant gaze than swept towards the seat across from her and she saw her father meet her orbs as he wriggled his brows, pointing his eyes towards her mother's frame as he sipped down his tea.

Shanzay took another gulp as she placed the mug back on the table, turning completely towards her mother's frame,
"Ma, why aren't you eating anything? Should I cut a slice for you"?

She asked gesturing towards the cake.

Her mother didn't reply, only threw her a silent glare before turning her attention back towards front, utterly ignoring the two people's presence.

A soft sigh left Shanzay's lips as she gazed ahead at her father with helplessness.

This time Salman Malik placed the teacup on the table, turning towards his wife's frame, initiating the conversation,
"Begum, nashta kiyun nahi ker rahi ap sahi say"?

His voice soft and coaxing making Nadia begum give him an annoyed glare, completely turning her frame away from him while huffing in a low tone,
"Bhook nahi mujhe".

"Saaf saaf kahain k mujhse khafa hain ap. Mera ghussa khanay per tou na utarain".
Salman Malik stated in a calm tone.

Nadia Begum's nostrils flared at his words as she turned towards him completely, placing the cup back on the table with a sound,
"So what? You don't even want me to be angry at the stunt you pulled"?

Salman Malik visibly gulped as he tried to reason,
"Nadia, you know it isn't that big of an issue".

Shanzay got the feeling as if invisible smoke had left her mother's ears as she saw her nostrils flare,
"Inviting that sardar at my house without even consulting me is a big issue"!

Salman Malik tried to hold her hand,
"You wouldn't have agreed, begum".

Shanzay saw her mother jerking her father's hand away as she humphed,
"That doesn't mean you can invite anyone you want for lunch".

She took a sip from the mug hearing her father reply calmly.

"But he isn't just anyone, he's your son-in-law".

Damn.
She could only wish for her father's wellbeing at this point.
He had hit her mother's weak spot.
Should she prepare herself for world war III?

Nadia begum turned giving a glare that literally made Salman Malik flinch internally,
"Who is my son-in-law"?!

Shanzay could only clear her throat as she shifted in her seat.
Okay, this was getting awkward for her.
