THE CHEF AND THE CHORE BOY

"Easy. Easy." Nami directed at Sora and Luffy. The three were pulling Zoro into the kitchen. "Don't drop him."

"He's really heavy." Sora said, lowering him into the table. "I mean he's got a lot of muscles and like big ones. I-er- and a big head." She stumbled over her last words realising what she was saying.

"What does that have to do with anything?" Nami said, looking around the cabin.

"Where's the first aid kit?" Luffy asked.

"Do we have a first aid kit?" Nami asked.

"I don't know. I hoped that restaurant might have something but Usopp hasn't come back yet." Sora said.

"This is all I found!" Usopp ran in with some stupid items.

"Did you not check if anyone was a ship's doctor?" Nami said, opening Zoro's shirt to inspect his wounds. Although it was disgusting, Sora couldn't help but look at it. As well as his muscles, but they were covered in blood.

"Right. A doctor." Luffy said, backing away. "We need a doctor." He went this time instead of Usopp.

"Sora hold this against Zoro whilst we wait." Nami said, tossing the towel over. Sora caught it, pressing down against his wound. She looked at his unconscious face, unable to look anywhere else.

Moments later Luffy walked back in. "Are you kidding? He needs a doctor." Nami said, Sora's gaze finally rose from Zoro's pale face to the groups.

"Do you wanna save your swordsman friend or not?" Chef replied, pushing Sora and Nami away.

"Yes." Sora said, looking at the man intently. She watched as him and Sanji laid some cutlery out and a fish.

"Is that to sterilise the wounds?" Usopp asked quietly.

"Hell, no." Zeff said. "That would be a waste of really good liquor." He took a large sip, before cutting the fish's head off.

He cut the fish so precisely and delicately the group couldn't help but watch in wonder. "Needle." He instructed Sanji.
The man sewed Zoro's wounds closed. "Fish skin." His instructed again. "This is an old seaman's trick. The fish skin helps staunch the winds and heals the flesh a lot faster."

"You wouldn't mind putting some of that on me, would you?" Sora tried, looking at the fish.

"Sure." Sanji grinned at her, Sora's eyes widened.

"Is he, erm, gonna be okay?" She coughed out ignoring Sanji's attempt at flirting and focused back on to her friend.

"Look, I'm not gonna lie to you. He's lost a lot of blood. It might be too late for him." Chef said honestly, Sora took an involuntary step back to catch an escaped breath.

"But it might not be." Luffy frowned.

"He's got on foot in each world right now, caught between life and death. You have to find a way to keep him tethered to our world. Talk to him. Tell him stories. Sing him sea shanties for all I care." The group snuck a glance at Sora when he mentioned sea shanties, the girl just nodded willing to do whatever it took to bring her friend back. "He may not reply, but at least he'll know his crew are still with him."

Sora hadn't left his side. Just fast asleep in the chair besides him, lounging across it uncomfortably. Her hand dropped to side forcing the blood to rush towards it.

Nami, who sat on the other side, had been reading for the past few minutes. That was until Luffy walked in. Spotting Sora asleep, he didn't care much as he also wanted her to rest from her past injuries.

Sora's eyes fluttered open to the sound of their argument. It was until Nami walked out that she rose up.

"She's right, you know?" She stretched herself, cracking every bone in her back.

"What?" Luffy said, turning towards her.

"Not everyone can follow their dreams..." she said, her eyes wondering off sadly.

"...are you talking about Nami? Or yourself?" Luffy said, joining her to sit down.

"Both. Erm...when I was younger, I had a sister..." Her mind started to drift off.

-FLASHBACK-

Hayashi Sora and Amaya were sisters. Half, if you want to get technical (and a punch to the face for rudeness).

Amaya was born to Tanaka Elisha and Riki. However, when Riki left to board some pirate ship Elisha was heartbroken. Eventually she found love in Hayashi Yukio, before having a baby girl, Sora.

Amaya slowly grew resentful towards her mother. She was the reason for her fathers departure. She was the reason she was mistreated and left out. But, Amaya never took it out on Sora.

"Rara?" Amaya called out.

"Maya!" A small girl called out.

The two sisters were very different. Different fathers. Different lives. Different interests. Emotionally and physically they were different. Yet, they were close.

Until, one day. They weren't. Amaya was gone. In the dead of night. Her mother, if she did know the reason, never told Sora why.

Sora was only 9. She didn't truly understand. She would never understand. Amaya was gone. That was the end.

Until the day her mother died and she had promised to find her again.

Her dreams were many.

Yet, not much at all.

She dreamt to find her sister.

She dreamt to find out why she left.

She dreamt to hurt Amaya like she hurt her family.

She believed Amaya was the cause of her mother sickness. Elisha had faced unbelievable grief and challenges; the illness came so sudden. Sora couldn't help but believe the cause was the 13 year old Amaya.

-FLASHBACK OVER-

"Sora...I'm so sorry." Luffy said, his hand on top of hers.

"Why?" Sora said, looking at him. A small tear traced down her face. He just looked at her sympathetically.

"We will find your sister." He reassured, she just nodded.

"Oh, look, me and Zoro are matching." She said, trying to change to discussion.

"Hmm?" Luffy questioned, his face adorning a small smile that grew.

"We have matching wounds." She stood, pointing to the bandage secured around her stomach and pointed to his large wound across his torso. She just smiled, staring at the green haired man.
