"Ya know if this were a video game or horror movie we'd see the place slowly overtaken by some fleshy pulsating mass as we approached our destination. But instead it's just quiet and I dunno if that's better or worse." Cheska said as we reached our destination. On the other side of this door was the bio labs.

"The unknown is definitely worse" I replied to her statement.

"Hey ki- sorry. Hey Lily how old are you anyways?" She asked me curiously. I guess to be fair I probably wasn't what she'd expect from a kid.

But huh how old was I now?

"Eight I think? Maybe Nine? I dunno I lose track of time in space." I answered mostly honestly. If I included mental age then I'd be in my late 20s... even if I did keep Excella tucked away.

A few years ago I would've wished I never retained my memories and just got to be Lilian an innocent princess knowing nothing of hardship but... well I'm me and that's all there really is to it. Plus it provided both Lisia/Mom and myself some much needed closure and outside of Sophie I don't know if I'd have ever become friends with any of the others. The memories I've made are ones I'll cherish.

I took a deep breath and focused once again. If I wanted to protect what was precious to me I'd have to accept that I'll probably need to kill someone again.

"Dalton, Cheska, let's go." I said and we entered the lab.

*******

It had been a few hours and by this point most of the monsters were dead so all that was left was an eerie silence.

A few years ago I never would have thought my brother was still alive but here we are on course to an inhabitable planet he found and I now have a niece that's from that planet. On top of all that I'm now going through the Ark killing monsters to save her.

Funny to think about for years I was just coasting through life after losing everyone by the second I gained a shred of hope I'm clinging to it no matter what... well I guess that is human nature.

"Hmmmm I'm getting close..." I muttered as I reloaded my gun ready to go and end Vaistos.

"Admiral I've made it to the lab, heading in now." I said out loud unsure if he'd hear me or not due to communications being messed up.

*******

After being asleep for so long it was definitely unexpected to be woken up by a little girl that just fought off some wolf that looked like a horror movie reject. Then I see Dalton take another one and kill it in one shot.

I didn't know how long Dalton and I had been in stasis but judging by the situation we were definitely woken up early.

But regardless sooner or later it was time to come face to face with the cause of the madness. Apparently his name was Vaistos or something like that, maybe it was a generational thing but boy did that name sound stupid.

But stupid or not I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. So I decided to try and lessen the tension a little bit.

"Ya know if this were a video game or horror movie we'd see the place slowly overtaken by some fleshy pulsating mass as we approached our destination. But instead it's just quiet and I dunno if that's better or worse."

But I wasn't really expecting Lily to answer so quickly. "The unknown is much scarier"

This girl seemed like she should still be in elementary school but the way she carried herself seemed odd.
