Chapter 37

Ezra

It's been a year now. Ares and I are back to how we were. A little anyway.

We think and talk about kids a lot but are scared now.

We are on a walk with Mimi and Peace.

Peace is getting older and Mimi is getting bigger.

It was Ares' birthday last week. We went to his parents home. Julian was very happy to see us. Ares' promised to bring him over. Today is the day he's bringing him.

The door opens as I'm making lunch.

"Ez!" Julian runs to me giving me a hug.

"Hi Juli" I bend down and hug him back.

"What are you doing?" He asks.

"Making lunch. You wanna help me?" I smile down at him.

I look up at Ares and he's smiling at me.

I return the smile before turning back to Julian.

Julian is three but is extremely smart.

He started talking at one, small words but at two he was saying full sentences., and now at three he has full conversations with people.

We make Chicken Alfredo from scratch.

After a while we finish cooking.

I call Ares down to eat.

I serve the food and Ares comes down.

"Can we go outside after were done?" Julian asks.

"Sure, you can even play with Mimi." Ares says taking a seat.

I smile at Ares as Julian eats faster.

After we all finish eating we go outside.

Mimi plays with Juli. Peace sits next to me.

I pet him behind his ear, he leans into my touch.

"You okay?" Ares asks pulling me into a side hug.

"Yeah" i mumble.

"You don't mumble unless somethings wrong love."

He's right...

"I'm just sad he's getting older." My voice is filled with sadness.

"He's happy though. He had a long life with you" He kisses my cheek.

I hum in response.

"You're always together, and I think that's all he needs." He smiles softly.

"Yeah" I smile softly as well.

I give Peace a hug. He licks me in return, saying its okay.

"Ez, Mimi won't give me the toy!" Juli whines.

I let go of Peace and look up.

Letting out a laugh, I walk to Mimi and grab the toy and give it to Juli.

I sit back down next to Ares and Peace.

"Your so pretty" Ares says hugging me.

"You say that a lot" I say with a giggle.

"Cause it's true."

I roll my eyes.

As Ares and I are talking he gets a call.

"Hello?"

There's a pause.

"Okay, I'll be there" he says looking over at me.

I give him a confused look.

"Alright, see you in a bit" He hangs up the phone.

He lets out a sigh.

"You have to go to work, again?" I say.

"I'm sorry, but it's important. I promise to be back as soon as I can" He says getting up.

I let out a sigh. "Juli, big brother has to go. I'll be back though" Ares says to Julian who stops playing to listen to him.

"Okay!" He goes back to playing.

"I'll see you later, okay?"

I nod.

He kisses my hair before leaving.

I close the door.

Juli just fell asleep. He was playing all afternoon and used all of his energy.

Ares still isn't back.

Peace is on his bed when I enter our room. Mimi is probably in the living room sleeping on the couch since she isn't on her bed.

"Come on" I whisper for Peace to get on the bed with me.

It's something I do when Ares works late. He doesn't mind.

I wrap both of us in the blanket.

As I'm slowly falling asleep, the door opens.

"Ez" a soft voice says. I turn to the door and Julian is standing there.

"Come here" I say softly.

He happily gets into bed with us.

I also wrap him in the blanket.

"When is brother getting here?" He asks as I hug him.

"I don't know Juli. He might have to stay late."

"Okay" he whispers before falling asleep.

Turning over, I can't help but wonder why Ares has to work so late today.

It was his day off today. He rarely gets those, so I barley see him.

Only times I see him are when he comes home from work early, in the mornings, and at night.

I let out a long sigh.

After a bit of tossing and turning I finally fall asleep.

Sooner or later I feel the bed dip and arms wrap around me.

"I'm sorry" Ares whispers.

I turn to the other side.

I hear him let out a sigh before laying down to sleep.

I feel bad for pushing him away, but he always seems to fins work more important then anything.

I hug Juli as I try my best to put my mind to rest.

A/N: Hey guys!! So sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been caught up with somethings. I started to write this chapter yesterday but lost so much motivation to do it. Short chapter with some issues between Ares and Ezra. I hope you like. What do you guys thing of Juli? I'm not sure when I'll post again but I hope it's soon.
