ii. LOVE, STARBOY.
[ pt two. of dear starboy. ]

and i'd give you the moon.
i'd cradle the stars in mason jars. string
the milky way across your ceiling. i would give
you the world. the band around saturn to replace
your bent halo. the heavenly body to orbit the
irises of your eyes. i would do this all for it's
what you deserve. but for now i give you my
heart. i give you my soul and vulnerability. i
give you broken stanzas with our prosperating
love behind each word. the dead flowers that
were left over from the garden winter has bitten
harshly. i give you peppered kisses, love letters
on sticky notes. i can only hope this is enough
for now. that my love is enough to fill in the gaps
that are meant to be full of astronauts dreams.

you tell me you don't need any of it
as my soul wakes in the morning next to you.
you don't need any of it
when you have me.

[ locking pinkies, i whisper,
one day, i'll give you the moon.
you smile. your eyes crease as
your mouth turns end to end.
you whisper back. i don't want it.
i don't want any of it,
when i have you
