With the mask on, I could now breath outside of my cell. Deek held my upper arm tightly while beings I had never seen before filtered into the room. There were 5 of them, all male and very short in stature. Their skin was a light shade of red and their eyes were copper colored. Lucious golden hair flowed from their heads, so brilliant in color it almost seemed to shimmer. They spoke, but I couldn't understand them. Xan had only downloaded 2 languages into the buds for me.

Deek barked out orders to them in their language and they scurried faster. His tone was cruel and they seemed afraid of them.

I watched as they placed small silver disks on the base of each plant. As they tapped the disks, they turned green and suddenly a clear crystal field seemed to contour around the plants. Was that how they transported them through areas without oxygen?

The men moved quickly, grabbing the plants and taking them outside the ship.

Deek squeezed my arm tighter as he brought his hand up to his ear and tapped it.

"Deek," he answered and I could hear a muffled voice coming from his ear. Looking closer I could see there was a small earbud in his ear too. The device must have been some type of communication device.

His voice was firm and it sounded like he was arguing with someone. I looked around and noticed the other beings were no longer around. It seemed they had gathered everything they needed to. This was my moment.

Without wasting another minute, I stomped down on his foot with all my strength and violently tore out of his grasp. Bolting down the hall, I heard him screaming at me to stop. The hallway was long, but I could see the light ahead. It grew brighter and brighter and my legs ached as I put all my power into the sprint. I just needed to get outside and away from Deek. I couldn't let him sell me and become a science experiment.

The ramp was right before me and I rejoiced inside, finally seeing my freedom inside. My feet pounded down the ramp, but as I stepped into the red sand I felt a powerful force yank my body down to the ground so forcefully, I could see stars. Panicked, I struggled to push myself up but I couldn't even move. It was like I was a magnet, forcefully clinging to the ground.

Two brown boots stepped into my vision and I heard a mocking cackle.

"You fool," Deek laughed, towering above why I continued to struggle but to no avail. "You don't have the resources to withstand the gravity of Vasio."

He knelt down next to me and I struggled to look at him. Reaching into a pouch on his belt, he pulled out what looked like an epi-pen. "You've proven yourself untrustworthy. You've left me no choice."

His words struck fear inside me and he injected the device into my neck. I cringed but quickly felt my body go numb. I couldn't move, couldn't feel anything. I was powerless and at his mercy.
