"I don't know half of you as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

— J.R.R Tolkien

Astoria had lived alone most of her life, or at least for the years that really mattered. From a heartbroken and scared child, she grew into a lone wolf (and expected to remain that way for the rest of her life). She found that once she got the hang of surviving on her own, it wasn't as hard as one might imagine. She grew to live among the trees, hunt only at night, and never trust strangers.

She saw the large metal ship fall from the sky on a day that she expected to be like any other. It had started out that way; she sharpened her arrowheads, painted her face to camouflage with the trees, and successfully avoided a Trikru hunting party. Then she followed the trail of smoke to the crash site and was met with a hundred and one teens celebrating their arrival to her earth.

Among them was Bellamy, the only member of the group that was Astoria's age, as well as the most infuriating person she had ever met. She wasn't sure what about him caused her blood to boil with as much fire as it did, but she knew she wasn't going to be the person to make peace—especially when he was one to capture her.

With the grounders always a step ahead, Astoria finds herself needing help from the hundred just as much as they need her. As difficult as it would be for an outsider to settle into the group, Astoria had survived worse. And in survival, it isn't about what we want, it's about doing whatever it takes.

He wasn't sure what he could say to make everything better. "You're the strongest person I know," he settled on, looking over her face as she closed her eyes. "And I'll spend the rest of my life reminding you of that fact if I have to."
