My best friend
Doesn't talk boys with me
She doesn't giggle
And she doesn't gossip
She's not what I would've
Pictured in a best friend
But she's still mineMy best friend
Doesn't talk boys with me
But she does wait for me
Outside of the church
Every SundayMy best friend
Doesn't talk boys with me
But she'll wait for me at the end
Of a dirt driveway
So I can follow her
Into town
Because she knows
I'm scared to drive aloneMy best friend
Doesn't talk boys with me
But she sat by my side for three days
When I was sad
She didn't leave
She didn't move
She just held me
While I cried
And helped me write notes
And answer questions
So that I wouldn't miss
A test amidst my sadnessMy best friend
Doesn't talk boys with me
But she buys me snacks
And takes me out to movies
That she knows I'll loveMy best friend
Doesn't talk boys with me
But she'll respect my bubble
And she won't intrude
Yet when I let her
She'll cuddle up and make me feel lovedMy best friend
Doesn't talk boys with me
But she braids me hair
Every time I ask her to
Even if she's already in bed
Even if she's nearly asleepMy best friend
Is a beautiful soul
I will never find another
Like her(06-29-21)
