Chapter 16

I put my AirPods in and put some music on. I run downstairs with my bag over my shoulder.

"Hey, Hazel! I just wanted to talk to you." Mom stands in the kitchen braiding Amara's hair. When I was young I told my mom to never braid my hair because it hurts so much. Luckily, my mom never did.

"Don't wanna talk." I sigh and walk to the living room searching for Jaden. I'll ask him to bring me to school, normally Matt brings me. But today I won't go with him. I don't think hes gonna pick me up either.

"Jay," hes sitting on the couch. When I see Jaden, I wanna cry so hard. I always tell Jay everything, he has literally seen me in every type of mood. Whenever I'm sad I always talk to him, but the last couple weeks, that kind of faded away.

"Hey sis," he smiles. "Matt can't pick us up. I don't know why, so are you gonna go with me?" He asks. He doesn't know about all of this?

"Yeah, sure!" I smile awkwardly.

"What's up?" Jaden asks concerned.

"Nothing. I uhh, yeah nothing." I smile.

"Alright. Let's go." He throws his keys in the air and let's them fall in his palm again.

When we arrive at school, people are staring again. I'm kind of used to it now.

I walk over to Nori and Madi, my best friends.

"Hey!" I smile and hug both of them.

"Hey! Something is up, I know it." Nori says and looks at me concerned.

I look down. "No, why?" I smile as hard as I can.

"Because, you aren't driving with Matt. For the first time in my life I didn't see Jaden and Matt driving together. You look depressed." Madi chuckles at the last sentences.

I roll my eyes. "Nothing, just like normal. Matt and I don't get along and I just drive with my brother, what's wrong with that?" I ask.

"Nothing makes sense. I thought you and Matt we're almost dating. Now that just broke my heart. Y'all would be mad cute." Madi says as we walk inside the school.

"I just don't know, okay?" My voice breaks. "Matt just wasn't nice to me and I don't know what I did to him." I shrug my shoulders.

Jaden and Matt haven't talked much, Matt never comes to our house anymore after what happened. Jaden doesn't leave much either. They probably haven't hung out either. This Saturday we were gonna watch Jaden, Matt and Asher play. But I canceled, Nori and Madi are gonna go together.

Amara had been asking about Matt for a long time, she misses him a lot. So do I, but that doesn't matter.

My mom gave up trying to talk to me. I won't let a word come out of my mouth. I know I'm overreacting, but I thought Matt liked me back.

Clearly he doesn't.

Pov Matt

One week later
"No, mom. I fuck everything up, I don't wanna go to school. I am not gonna talk to Hazel, not to Jaden either." I slam my fist on the table and  leave. Mom has been talking about Hazel this whole time.

She doesn't like me.

End of story, we should just become enemies again.

I let myself fall on my bed and tears run down my face. Jaden hates me, Hazel hates me, who else is gonna hate me more? They are my everything.
