By the time I'm done in the bathroom, Chris is waiting out side the door for me. "Are you ok?" I asked startled.

"Of course," he says, "I was just making sure that you were."

Translation: I wanted to make sure you didn't sneak off with your brother and best friend.

"Why wouldn't I be?" I ask, acting oblivious to the current situation. "Is something going on?" I ask innocently.

He shrugs, "Come on, dinner is starting soon."

"Ok, let me grab my crutches."

A mischievous smile spreads across his face. What is he planning? I turn around and reach for them, but before I do, he picks me up.

I let out a girly shriek and start laughing as he carries me down the hall in a run. "What are you doing?" I ask in-between giggles. Some of my hair gets in my face.

"The crutches are so boring," he says, "I like this way much better."

When we enter the living room, everyone is looking in our direction. Ashley looks surprised, Danny is laughing. Jonathan, Joseph, and Olivia all have small smiles on their faces.

I move the hair out of my face, my cheeks feel all hot. "Hi," I say dumbly.

Chris laughs, looking down at me. "Is that a blush I see?" He asks teasing me.

"Never," I say grinning. I look back at everyone. They are still looking at us, Jonathan, actually looks pleased.

Joseph is the first to speak, "Oh that reminds me," he says. Chris sets me on the ground and helps me hop over to the couch. "Come to my office next week and we'll see about having that cast removed."

"That would be great," I say. Chris sits down on the couch beside me. We are back to where we were before my brother and Ryan came. I almost forgot about that. Chris can really cloud up my mind.

I look at Ashley, she is still in the same position. She looks pale, and kind of frightened. "Hey Ash," I say, "Are you ok?"

She looks at me with big pleading eyes. "Can I talk to you?" She asks quietly.

"Sure," I say worried.

"Alone."

I look at Chris, knowing that he was listening the whole time. He looks conflicted on whether he should leave me alone with her or not. He might think she knows who was at the door, it's to late for that.

Besides that, Ashley has been acting a little out of it. She has been quiet mostly. I look at Chris with big pleading eyes, I know he will fall. Finally he says, "Ok," then he smiles a little bit, "I'll carry you to the room."

He picks me up softer this time. He walks slowly with Ashley following us. We go to one of the guest bedrooms on the first floor. He sets me on the bed and says, "Just knock in the door when you are ready to come out." I nod.

The room is a decent size. The walls are a cream color and the carpet is a tan shag. There are two windows and a queen size bed is in the room. A small dresser and a side table are the only other pieces of furniture. The room is plain, but has a homey feeling to it.

After that, he leaves. Ashley sits next to me. It's quiet, "So Sam huh?" I ask.

She bursts out crying.

I take her in my arms. This was me a half hour ago, crying because of my family. "It's ok," I whisper soothingly. "Everything will work out fine, I promise."
