The Letter

I opened the letter after she'd ran away. 

Dear Naruto Uzumaki,

I'll be brief. I don't want to take up much of your time. So, here goes.

 I'm in love with you. I've been in love with you since I was only 5 years old. I always looked at you but I never had the courage to even have a proper conversation with you. I love you because you never give up. You always try your best, even when people say things against you. You're so kind to everyone. I've seen you help out little kids with their homework and carrying heavy bags for the elderly, because you care. Oh well, I'll even write that you're... handsome. That was a tad difficult to put on paper!

Well, that's all I have to say. You don't have to feel pressured by this, I just wanted you to know. I know you love Sakura-chan but I figured maybe, just maybe, I'll have a chance if I gave you this letter.

Oh.

This was a surprise, to be honest. I don't catch on to things fast enough. I'm a dunce, as Sasuke and Shikamaru would say.

While it's true I like Sakura-chan, I don't think I've ever thought about being in love with her. I've always noticed Hinata Hyūga since she was in all my classes. The school we go to keeps all the kids in the grade level in the same class. 

After having read the letter a few times I sat down on a bench outside. I thought about her. Her pale skin that glowed a little in the sunlight. Her dark blue hair that lifted a little in the breeze. My eyes close and a light blush comes to my cheeks. I whisper a name.

"Hinata." Just the name gave me goosebumps and put a smile on my face. I felt something new in my heart that reached into my soul. What was it?

"Its called love, baka." I hear a voice call out. Opening my eyes, I look at Sakura-chan.

"How could you possibly know that's what I'm thinking?" I give her a small smile.

"You whispered the name of the girl who's been in love with you for twelve years, a blush came across your face, and I see a smile. Knowing you, you don't even know what love is yet. I mean, we are seventeen." Sakura-chan sighs as she lays down on the grass, arms to her sides. I get up and sit with my legs crossed beside her.

"I have a theory, Naruto."

"Hmm?"

"Long ago, you said that you loved me. Wasn't that because I loved Sasuke-kun? You didn't want to lose to the guy. It's real this time, isn't it?" Sakura smiled.

"Hinata's a great person, Naruto. She's too good for you." The vibrant rose blonde chuckled.

"But- she ran away."

"She ran away because she was scared of your answer. It's not because of regret. When a girl truly falls in love, her feelings don't change easily." Sakura-chan closed her eyes. I knew she was thinking of Sasuke. "I understand how she feels very well."

"I'll tell her how I feel, in the same way she told me." With that, I stood up. The breeze ran through the air. I looked down and I saw Sakura-chan smiling.

"Do your best, Naruto." I smiled once more in return and ran all the way home.

Dear Hinata Hyūga,

You were wrong.

I was an idiot. I always noticed you. With the help of a friend, I realized that, I never loved Sakura-chan. I loved her in a sisterly way. I can't believe it took me twelve years to figure out how much more you meant to me. You've always supported me, even when no one else would. I remember so many little and kind moment like that time when you gave me ointment when I got hurt from a game of tag a couple years back. You are so sweet to everyone. I see you being so kind to so many people. I'll even write this, you are beautiful. The most beautiful person I've ever seen.

Please accept my love for you, Hinata. I'll treat you like your a princess. You deserve everything the world can offer. You are my world, Hinata.

"Naruto-kun." Her voice wavered.

"All of its true, Hinata. I love you."

Hinata eyes well up in tears. My heart tugs. I pull her into a hug, her arms wrapping around mine. I lift her chin up, and wipe away her tears.

"I love you, Hinata Hyūga." I lean in for a kiss. Hinatas lips were so soft, so I came in for another one.

She seemed surprised but quickly Hinata melted into it and kissed back with equal force.

When we came back up for air, she whispered something to me.

"I love you too, Naruto Uzumaki." 

My heart swelled, and I hugged her, never wanting to let her go.
