chapter six

1987

GUSTAVO STOPPED THE CAR ACROSS THE STREET FROM OF THE APARTMENT BUILDING. He threw it in park and allowed the car to idle as he turned to Celia. The two leaned in and allowed their lips to meet in the middle. Celia let out a small moan of content as she slid her hand to rest on the side of his face. Gustavo then pulled back far enough to simply rest his forehead against her's.

"No deberías empezar algo que no puedes terminar." Gustavo mumbled lowly to the woman in front of him and she chuckled softly in response.

"¿Cómo sabes que no puedo terminarlo?" Celia replied teasingly and with a smile plastered her face.

"Porque me obligaste a llevarte a casa temprano para que puedas llegar a tiempo para enseñar mañana a Juan Pablo." Gustavo stated as he placed one last slow kiss on Celia's lips. "Te veo mañana, hermosa."

"Hasta mañana, mi cariño." Celia said before she climbed out of the car and shut the door behind her.

Gustavo waved one last time to his girlfriend while Celia blew back a kiss. Celia couldn't help but grin to herself thinking about Gustavo. She and her boyfriend had been dating for a year and a half now. Ever since she got with him she was anything, but sad. The man knew how to treat her well, in and out of the bedroom. Their age difference was something Celia was concerned about at first, but it was completely forgotten once she really got to know Gustavo.

Celia watched her boyfriend drive off down the street and into the night before crossing the road. She immediately noticed Javier standing outside smoking a cigarette.

"Spying on me are you?" Celia playfully teased the agent as she walked up to him while he generously put out his cigarette.

"Not spying," Javier responded as he rested his hands on his hips while taking in the backless black tube dress Celia was wearing. "You look nice by the way."

"Thanks," Celia felt another small smile tug at her lips because of Javier's comment, a slight blush beginning to creep on her face. "Anyways...I'm kind of tired so I'm going to head in. Goodnight, Javier."

Celia moved away from the agent and began to climb up the steps. As she was about to open the front door, Javier's next words made her stop in her tracks.

"Is he treating you good?" Javier asked the question aloud in a soft, sincere voice while shifting on his feet a bit uncomfortably.

"...He is," Celia replied after a brief pause from the shock of the question, noticing Javier's tense stance.

"Good, good," Javier commented before gesturing to the building. "I should really let you go get some sleep. We're all meeting up for lunch tomorrow by the way. It's actually at your favorite place by the market. Goodnight, Cece."
