"Amaris, the doctor is here to see you." Tristan gently shook me, waking me up. I groaned and opened my eyes. The doctor was stood at the foot of the bed, reading my medical chart. He looked up from the chart and beamed at me.

"It's been a while since I last saw you... Alpha." He smiled brightly at me. I frowned at him, I don't recognise him. "I see you don't remember me, I was the one that treated you after Al-" He was cut off by Tristan snarling at him, "Not now, Doc. Amaris needs to rest and bringing that up will only set her back." Tristan warned.

The doctor shook his head and apologised before coming round the side of the bed to me. "I'm Doctor Reeves." He greeted. "So, Alpha how are you feeling?" He questioned, staring down at me. I rolled my eyes and snorted, "I'd be much better if you didn't call me Alpha." I groaned. He glanced between me and Tristan awkwardly. "But... You're my Alpha." He stammered. I rolled my eyes again at him and huffed dramatically. "I'm fine," I gritted through my teeth.

"If I'm to discharge you, I'm going to need you, to be honest with me." He insisted.

"Ok, I'm sore and my stomach hurts." I deadpanned, staring at the ceiling. I just wanted to be out of here, the smell of the hospital was becoming more nauseating over time. "Can you lift your shirt?" He asked while putting some medical gloves on.

I pushed the blanket down a little and lifted my shirt. As he unwrapped the bandage, I winced. "I'm sorry, I'll be as quick as I can." He apologised. I laid back and closed my eyes. After 5 minutes, he was done. My wound was bandaged back up, "You will need to change that every day, is there someone that will be able to do it for you?" He questioned, pulling his gloves off.

"She'll have all the help she needs." Rhydian declared at the door. I took a sharp breath and straightened my shirt out. "Well, you are free to leave. I want to see you again in a couple of days to check you are healing." He nodded. "Thank you, Doc." I smiled as I tried to sit up. He placed his hand on my back and helped guide me up.

"Take care, Alpha." He said, bowing his head. I rolled my eyes and caught a smirk on Rhydian's face. He went towards the door and bowed his head to Rhydian, "Alpha." He greeted and then left. "I'll go get you some clothes so you can leave," Tristan said, walking towards the door. I was about to object when he left the room.

This is what I've been dreading... Being left alone with Rhydian. I sighed and swung my legs off the bed, slowly. "Amaris," Rhydian spoke quietly. I ignored him and grimaced as I tried to stand up. He was in front of me before I could attempt again. "Let me help you." He said, holding his hand out.

"No." I snapped and tried again. I managed to lift myself off the bed only to stumble forward into his arms. He held me against him as I waited for the pain to subside. My forehead was resting on his chest, I could feel his heartbeat going crazy. I subconsciously inhaled his scent and felt myself relax instantly. I sighed contentedly without realising.

"How long have you known?" He asked. I stepped back, out of his arms and took a deep breath. I put on the fakest face I could muster before answering him. "Known what?" I shrugged.

'Amaris, he hasn't tricked us. He didn't know about us until you removed the necklace.' Aurora protested.

'We don't know that for certain.'

"I know you could scent others wearing your necklace." He rolled his eyes, folding his arms across his chest.

"Yeah... so?" I replied, sarcastically.

"Are you really going to stand there and pretend you don't know?" He scoffed. I glared at him and folded my arms across my chest.

"No, I'm going to stand here and wait for you to tell me what you are on about," I argued. He took a deep breath then reached out to me. I stepped back and growled at him. "See, you do know." He retorted. I shook my head and scowled at him.

"It makes sense though..." He started, slowly making his way over to me. "My wolf was protective over you and I could never work out why... I could calm you down and don't think I didn't pick up on the way you reacted sometimes when we touched." He was now stood in front of me and I wanted to run.

As much as I wanted to believe he was my mate, and he probably was. How was I supposed to trust someone about this again? I hated the possibility of having a mate because I would never know if it was real or not.

"I didn't react." I denied it.

"Oh but you did, it was like this..." He smiled as he softly lifted my hand and put our palms together. I tried with everything I had not to react, the sparks and warmth spread up my arm. I gritted my teeth together and glared at him.

"I have never felt anything like this before..." He whispered as he linked our fingers together and stepped dangerously close to me. I sucked a breath in and screwed my eyes shut. "See, you feel it too." He muttered.

I growled and shoved him back. "I don't feel anything. It's all in your head." I ranted.

"Why are you fighting me on this?" He shrugged.

"I'm not fighting you on anything." I scoffed.

"Amaris, you're my mate." He whispered.

"What?!" Tristan choked. I spun around and paled.

No, no, no, this isn't happening.

"I'm not," I said, shaking my head. Tristan came towards me and stopped in front of me. "Sweetheart, do you feel anything towards Alpha Rhydian?" He asked.

I burst into tears, holding my hands against my face to try and muffle my sobs. Tristan removed my hands from my face, "I don't know." I choked, he pulled me against him carefully and wrapped his arms around my back.
