Rhydian's POV.

I stomped up the stairs of the packhouse, heading for my office. "Wait, I need to tell you something before you go in," Lucas murmured. I stopped at the top of the stairs and turned to him. He didn't speak, he just stood there staring at me. "Well?" I questioned. He's stalling and the longer he does, it's the longer Amaris is left with them.

"The Dark Wolf... It's Alex." He whispered. I furrowed my brows at him, "I'm sorry, I thought you just said the Dark Wolf is Alex." I chuckled. He gaped at me and didn't say anything. "You're being serious, aren't you?" I gasped. He nodded his head, I didn't wait for him to say anything. I twisted and bounded down the hallway to my office.

I shoved open the door and growled. "Where the fuck is she?" I snapped, making my way over to Alex. Tristan jumped up and put himself between us. "Rhydian, let's not jump to conclusions." Tristan held up his hands in front of him and pleaded with me.

"Rhydian?" Alex questioned, gawking at me. I took a deep breath then sighed. I ran my hand through my hair and nodded. "Do you remember me?" He questioned, glancing at the floor. "I do," I answered. "I don't remember much about my past. But I do remember bits and pieces about you." He smiled shyly.

"We need to know where you've been, Alex," Tristan spoke softly, turning around to look at him. "Not yet. We need to find Amaris and bring her back." I grunted, heading over to my desk. "You're right, sorry." Tristan apologised and sat in the chair opposite me while Alex took his seat next to him. Lucas awkwardly came and stood beside me and glanced between us all.

"So, where's my dad?" Alex questioned, looking between us all. "Didn't you tell him?" Lucas gaped at his dad. Tristan shifted awkwardly in his seat and shook his head. "He died," Tristan whispered. Alex's eyes went wide and he sucked in a breath. "How?" He whimpered. "He was murdered by a rogue," I answered him, sadly.

He shot up and began pacing back and forth. "Who?" He snarled. I inhaled sharply and closed my eyes. "Malia," I muttered. "Malia?" He deadpanned, glaring at me. His eyes flashed between blue and black, he knew her. He began whispering to himself and I couldn't make sense of anything he was saying.

"Alex, are you ok?" Tristan asked worriedly. He shook his head and grabbed at his hair. "You need to get out of here!" He growled.

'Go to him.' Ryder spoke for the first time since I woke up.

'What so he can eat me? No thank you, I'll pass.'

'He's Amaris's twin brother. They're connected. We're her mate so there's a chance we can calm him too.' Ryder affirmed.

I huffed in disapproval. This was very likely going to get me killed. "How connected are Amaris and Alex?" I glanced at Tristan. He looked in thought then nodded at me. I raised a brow at him and he gestured towards Alex. "They're connected more because they are Dark Wolves. They had their own special bond. Try and calm him." Tristan countered through mindlink.

I took a deep breath and cautiously made my way over to Alex. I stopped in front of him and he glared at me, his eyes scorching red. He looked away and began muttering to himself in silence, I could see his lips moving but no sound was coming out. "Alex, look at me," I ordered calmly. His eyes fixated on mine, I placed my hands on his shoulders and pulled him against me into a hug. I could feel his body violently shaking, I could feel his heart thudding against his chest. "Alex, calm down," I spoke clearly and tried keeping my tone neutral.

Eventually, his shoulders relaxed and he wasn't as tense anymore. His breathing gradually returned to normal, he was taking quick breaths in and out. I stepped away from him, still resting my hands on his shoulders. "Are you ok?" I asked. He took a deep breath and nodded. "You're my anchor?" He asked, sounding a little shocked. I chuckled and nodded, "I'm not sure what one of those is, but I guess." I replied.

"I suppose it makes sense, from what I remember about you, you made me feel calm and safe." He smiled, "Are you Amaris's anchor too?" He asked. I chuckled awkwardly, "No, well I guess I am. I'm her mate." I retorted.

I went and sat back at my desk, I moved some books and revealed a map. "We would like to know where you have been and what happened to you," He nodded as I spoke, "But our main goal right now is to rescue Amaris," I stated.

He glanced down at the map on my desk and pointed at a location. "She'll be there." He announced. I looked down at the location and nodded. "We'll need all the warriors. Lucas mindlink Elijah, get him to get Ezra and the others ready." I ordered going straight into Alpha mode. "I want to come too," Tristan said standing up. I nodded, the more we have the better.

"Umm, my mums there," Alex admitted, rubbing his neck. "Although I'm not sure anything she said is true." He added, glancing at the floor. "She's there... With Amaris?" I growled. "She wouldn't hurt her though, she thought you were all dead too." He blurted. I snickered harshly and shook my head. "Alex, she tried killing Amaris after she was rescued," Tristan explained. Alex's eyes went wide and he growled. "We go now." He snapped.

We headed out of my office and was cornered by one of Selena's friends, Naomi. "Erm, Alpha Rhydian?" She spoke quietly, keeping her eyes on the floor. Alex eyed me from the side and raised his brow. "What is it, Naomi?" I replied. "Selena hasn't come back from her trip into town. She was supposed to be home hours ago" She muttered. "I'm sure she's fine, she's probably on her way back now," I responded. I didn't have time for this, Selena is not my problem and I definitely don't want to waste my time hunting down a drama queen. She nodded and hurried off down the stairs.

"Goddess, Selena Moores is a wolves worst nightmare." Lucas shivered. I chuckled and Alex grabbed my shirt pulling me backwards. "Did you say, Selena Moores? She's from here?" He asked quickly. I nodded and shrugged. I started walking down the stairs, I froze at the bottom when I heard Alex.

"Selena is working with Benjamin, the rogue Alpha."

I growled and punched the wall, cracking the plasterboard. "Why the fuck does this keep happening?" I growled. "Alpha, let's go. We can still get to her." Lucas sighed, motioning me out of the door. "I'm going to fucking kill her and take pleasure in it." I snarled, pulling open the door.

I walked out of the packhouse into a crowd. Ezra was stood at the front with a smile on his face. This dude would find a reason to smile at a funeral.

"Alpha, we are all ready and willing to come and help with the rescue of our Alpha." One of the pack members shouted.

My heart swelled at the sacrifices they were surely making. "You do know everyone may not make it back? I don't want anyone to feel forced into coming with us." I declared. Alex stepped beside me and looked like he was asking permission to speak. "Go ahead, this is more your pack than mine." I motioned my arms at the crowd.

"I'm sorry I don't know any of you and you don't know me." He stated, "I'm in awe of everyone that has joined together for Amaris. You have my word, I will do my best to keep each and every one of you safe." He declared. "Who are you?" Someone shouted from the crowd.

Just as Alex was about to open his mouth to speak I saw Drake come rushing through the crowd. "Alex?" He croaked. "Oh my God, it is you." He shrieked. Everyone was talking over each other. "Listen, yes I'm Alex Thorne. Amaris is my sister. We can talk more after we have her safe and sound back where she belongs." He announced to the crowd.

"Let's go bring your mate home, Alpha." He turned to me and nodded.
