"Amaris, you can't walk around with red eyes!" Lucas shrieked as I left the office. I rolled my eyes and carried on walking with Lucas hot on my tail."Why not? They're a part of me." I shrugged.

I reached the top of the stairs and turned to face Lucas. "People will be afraid. You've only just told them about your wolf and going around with red eyes is going to cause unnecessary problems." He muttered. I glared at him and he shrunk back. "I'll go lock myself in my room then or maybe I'll go back to Canada." I snapped.

I don't see his problem. I'm a Dark Wolf and it's time I start embracing it. "You can't go... go back to Canada." Lucas stammered. "Nobody accepts me here." I deadpanned before walking down the stairs. "Amaris." I heard Tristan behind me as I stepped off the stairs. I turned my head slightly and Tristan was stood by the kitchen door with his arms crossed.

"Of course you told your dad." I snickered, glancing at Lucas. "Amaris, you need to shift back," Tristan said, glaring at me. "Do I look like a wolf?" I replied sarcastically. I made my way to the front door. "Amaris Thorne, don't you walk away from me," Tristan growled. I stopped and spun around to face him, "Even if I knew how to change back, I don't want too." I snarled, "I'm in control for once, no one can hurt me." I growled.

I grabbed hold of the door handle and swung the door open, "I'm not going to hurt anyone... if that's what you're afraid of." I snapped. I turned to walk out of the door and bumped into someone. "Fuck sake," I muttered to myself. I stepped back and straightened out my clothes, "Sorry." I mumbled.

"It's ok..." I shot my head up and scowled. "Do you know hard it was for me to tell you that?" I yelled. I really don't know what's going on here. I've reverted back to my old self, the one before Noah. Maybe being the Dark Wolf is the real me...

"Can we talk?" Rhydian asked, rubbing his neck awkwardly. "Talk? You want to talk? After running off goddess knows where for the last 3 hours!!" I squawked. I couldn't stop myself, he hurt me by staying away. I shouldn't blame him for it, I mean, it's not the easiest thing to hear.

"Please." He pleaded. I rolled my eyes and pressed my lips into a thin line. I nodded and let him lead me towards his office. "Don't let anyone disturb us," Rhydian ordered, stopping next to Lucas who was now stood by his dad. Lucas nodded his head before quickly glancing at me, he offered me a forced smile before leaving the packhouse. I sighed and turned towards the stairs waiting for Rhydian.

We went up the stairs and into his office. I shut his door then folded my arms across my chest. "If you're going to reject me, you could just get on with it." I sassed, furrowing my brows at him. He was stood with his back to me. I could see his shoulders rising up and down, he was taking deep breaths. I began tapping my foot against the floor, I was getting agitated. I hated waiting, I wanted to know and I wanted to know now.

"Come on, it's only a few little words." I provoked, rolling my eyes. "I'll start for you if you've forgotten the words." I goaded him. I wasn't even sure why I was saying this, I didn't want this at all. My mouth had a mind of its own just spouting nonsense. I really needed Aurora.

"I, Amaris-"

Rhydian whirled around and growled, "Don't even finish that sentence." I rolled my eyes before glaring at him. "Oh no, you don't get to be angry," I growled. "You're the one that upped and fucked off. You left after I told you about Noah." I raged. "Do you know how worried I've been? I understand it was hard to read, but it happened to me." I yelled, tossing my hands in the air. "I said if you still wanted me to come and find me, but you didn't." I snarled.

He was just stood there, staring at me, not saying a word. It was pissing me off even more. "Are you mute or something?" I gibed. He flared his nostrils, he was trying to keep control. Perfect, anger I can deal with... Silence is a whole other matter. "So, what did you decide? I can't give you pups so you're done with me?" I quipped. "That's it, isn't it? Or is it that someone else fucked me?" I questioned, that caught his attention. He flinched before his stoic expression returned. I didn't even sound like myself, this was definitely the Dark Wolf.

Goddess, I was digging myself a bigger hole. I needed to shift back, as Tristan said. I was only making myself angrier. But he's not saying anything, he's not disagreeing with me. He's not even trying to make excuses. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.

"Are you going to say anything?" I whispered keeping my eyes closed. "I'm not talking about this whilst you're in this mood." He retorted. I opened my eyes and raised a brow at him, "And why am I in this mood?" I challenged. He rolled his eyes but continued to stare at me. "Fucking hell, Rhydian. Just tell me what the fuck you want." I demanded.

"I want you to gain control back from your wolf." He announced. I chuckled and shook my head. "I am in control." I giggled. He shook his head and sighed. "You aren't. Because the Amaris I know would never think that low." He claimed. I scowled at him as he stepped towards me. "No. You don't know me. I am in control." I nodded.

He kept edging towards me, "The Amaris I know would not use someone else fucked me talking about Noah." He growled lowly. I growled back at him and stepped back as he slowly crept towards me. "Your eyes may be red, but you won't hurt me." He muttered. My back hit the door as Rhydian stopped dangerously close to me.

I couldn't focus. All my sensed were filled with Rhydian. His scent embedded itself into my pores, a sense of relief spread over me. I closed my eyes and breathed deeply. I gradually opened my eyes, he was watching me intensively. "See, now you're back." He rasped. He brought his hand up to my face and brushed his fingers against my cheek. I leaned into his touch and sighed.

'I may not be present in your mind but I heard everything you said.' Aurora snarled. Great, even my wolf is pissed at me. I can't believe half the stuff that came out of my mouth.

"Now, you're going to listen to me." He stated, dropping his hand from my face. I whimpered at the loss of contact and his eyes flickered to black for a second. "First, I'm sorry I left. I didn't want you to see me like that. I was beyond angry, I needed to calm down before we spoke." He apologised. I kept quiet, letting him say what he needed to.

"I was angry with myself too. I was invited to that mating ball but I refused to go. If I had gone then that wouldn't have happened." He sighed. "I'm so sorry you went through that. I can't even begin to imagine how you are still standing." He took a deep breath, closing his eyes.

"You're mine, Amaris." He placed his hands on either side of my face, my breath caught in my throat as he opened his eyes. His eyes were dancing between black and blue, he wasn't fighting control with Ryder, he was sharing it. My eyes filled with tears and I choked back a sob. "I'm sorry for what I said." I whimpered.

He shook his head, catching a tear that slipped from my eye. "You don't ever have to be sorry." He soothed, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear. "So, what does this mean?" I asked, nervously. He stepped closer, closing the little distance between us. I had to crane my neck a little to look at him. He wasn't that much taller than me but in this position, it felt like he towered over me.

"I'm going to kiss you. So, if you don't want me to, say something now." He replied breathily.
