Jay woke up the next morning laying on abbies bed while he could hear the shower running, he was nervous for haileys announcement today but he knew he couldn't keep her in the unit if there was a better opportunity out in the big wide world for her. Suddenly the water stopped which drew him back into reality, he got out of bed and got changed since he kept some clean clothes at her house for these kinds of occasions, after a few minutes Abbie came out in her clothes ready for work. "Morning" she smiled at him, jay smiled back, he still couldn't believe how he had pushed past her tough shell and cracked into her soft side, "morning" he tilted his head.

The pair made their way downstairs for breakfast, Tyler was already up even though it was a Sunday, "you had breakfast ty?" Abbie lightly tapped his head jokingly. Tyler yawned but nodded, "I can work the oven remember..." he groggily replied. Abbie nodded as jay raised an eyebrow, "you can work the oven? Wow, I'm impressed" he ruffed up the teenagers hair.  Tyler laughed but shook his head, "shut up" he nudged jays arm playfully.  Jay smiled and laughed at their antics as Abbie smiled and pulled out some cereal for the pair, "how comes you're up so early?" Abbie poured the milk into the cereal for both of the adults.  Tyler nodded, "I have to submit this work by 10 and I haven't finished" he sighed.

Jay nodded, "I'm sure you'll manage bud, you're a smart guy" he raised an eyebrow. Tyler smiled, "I probably could've got it done last night but rocket leagues more important" he shrugged. Abbie scoffed, "you two and that bloody game, it'll be the death of me" she smirked. Whenever the two were on the play station they act like little kids together, jay and Tyler just laughed but the pair ate their cereal ready for work, "there's left over pizza in the fridge, help yourself for lunch" Abbie pointed to Tyler on the way out. Tyler mumbled a confirmation but the pair just laughed, typical teenage years...

Abbie noticed how nervous and worried jay seemed in the car ride to the district since they took abbies car today, "everything okay?" She smiled and quickly glanced over to him. Jay nodded but kept his eyes on the road, "mmhmm, just a little pre-occupied" he sighed a little. Abbie nodded and tapped his leg reassuringly, the pair didn't need to say anything to each other, their comfort was enough to know what they were thinking, jay squeezed her hand and smiled before she focused on the road again so they wouldn't end up around a tree.

"Morning chuckles, morning Abs" trudy greeted them as they walked into the reception, the pair smiled, "morning Sarge" they replied in unison then wandered up into the bullpen where the team were already waiting. Jay spotted his partner at her desk looking rather sad and out of it, he knew what he final decision was there and then, but she looked up and smiled at him before he got to her. Abbie gave Kevin their usual fist pump before starting a conversation between him and Kim. Hank walked out and coughed to gain their attention, "before we get onto a new case, uptons got something to say" he frowned a little but smiled at hailey. The blonde haired detective stood up and took his place at the top of the bullpen.

Everyone chirped up and looked at her, "I didn't really want to let you guys know this way but it's all happening so quickly, with that being said, I've been offered a place with the Feds and after taking some time to think it over, I've decided to take the job offer..." she clasped her hands together. Everyone remained silent for a few seconds so Abbie broke the stigma, "congratulations hails, we'll all miss you but you're gonna be great" she walked over and hugged her friend tightly. Everyone, apart from jay, took that as their opportunity to get up and do the same. After everyone got up and said their peace it was jay's turn to congratulate his soon to be ex partner, "congrats hails, I'll miss annoying you everyday but I have no doubt you'll do well" he hugged her.

Hailey smiled, "thanks jay, I know this is gonna be hard for both of us but I couldn't turn it down" she frowned and hugged him back. Jay nodded, "I 100% agree hails, absolutely" he smiled and pulled away. Hank nodded, "I'm sorry to break up the party but we do actually have a case, let's make haileys last case special" he smiled at them all. The team nodded, "when you leaving?" Abbie smiled at her. Hailey looked up and smiled, "I leave for New York tomorrow morning, start work on Wednesday" she nodded. Abbie nodded, "we're definitely going mollys tonight" she smiled as the group made their way downstairs.  They all laughed and nodded in agreement, even Hank agreed to join them.

"Here's to haileys future" Kevin toasted, they all joined in, "to haileys future" the spoke in unison and down their whiskey shots.  It felt saddening to be shipping hailey off to New York but it was the best thing for her since she was clearly too open minded and strong willed for the intelligence unit, it was the only right decision.  Jay smiled, "we're gonna miss you, but you have to stay in touch and come visit" he smiled at his now ex partner.  Hailey nodded, "don't you worry guys, I'll be back in Chicago at every chance I get" she laughed and smiled back.  The nights celebration were memorable, they were all finally coming to grips with letting their beloved team mate go, but that was it...

Hailey left mollys bar that night and she was gone forever, her new job would soon draw her in and she was off on her own adventure, jay felt a little lost but he had abbie by his side so he knew she wouldn't let him go through another dark time, especially after losing a second partner.
