"Alessa," Ace's dad exclaimed in shock, his eyes widening as he looked at me.

I stood there, dumbfounded, staring back at them with a mix of surprise and confusion plastered across my face. "What the heck are all of you doing here?" I blurted out, unable to contain my bewilderment.

His dad exchanged quick glances with the rest of Ace's family, and then his mom spoke up, her voice tinged with concern. "Uh, we're here for dinner, Alessa. Didn't Alexander mention that?"

"He did, I forgot," I say sheepishly

Ace's mom chuckled, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Well, surprise! We're here for dinner. Your dad invited us."

I couldn't help but let out a nervous chuckle, feeling a mix of relief and affection. "Oh, that explains it. Sorry for my little moment of confusion there."

Ace's mom wrapped an arm around my shoulder and gave me a warm squeeze. "No need to apologize, sweetie. Now, come give your mom a hug."

I smiled and embraced her "Of course, Mom. It's good to see you."

As we released each other, Ace's dad stepped forward with a half-smile. "Well, partially is not good, love. You should give your poor old dad a hug too."

I chuckled at Ace's dad's playful remark. "Well, I wouldn't argue with the 'old' part," I said with a grin, stepping into his outstretched arms.

I playfully winced as he lightly smacked my head. "Brat," he teased, his eyes twinkling with affection.

I giggled, rubbing the spot where he had lightly hit me. "Careful, Dad. You're messing up my perfect hair," I teased back, sticking my tongue out at him.

"You guys know each other?" my dad asked, his tone tinged with jealousy.

Ace's dad smiled mischievously, his eyes twinkling. "Oh, yes, we know each other quite well. In fact, Alessa is like a daughter to us," he said, throwing a playful glance at Ace. "Who knows? Maybe she'll officially become our daughter once she and Ace get married."

My dad's eyebrows shot up in surprise, and his protective instincts kicked in. "Ace and Alessa?" he asked, his tone curious and slightly overprotective.

Ace's mom nodded with a warm smile. "Oh, yes, they're together. I thought Alessa would have mentioned it."

I glanced at my dad, taking a deep breath before speaking. "Well, me and him haven't exactly had a chance to bond yet," I said, watching his reaction carefully.

His expression softened, a mix of regret and understanding in his eyes. "I know I haven't been there for you like I should have, Alessa. And for that, I'm truly sorry. But I want to make things right now, to be a part of your life."

I looked at him, my voice filled with a hint of bitterness. "It's not like you cared 15 years ago when you abandoned me. So why would you care now?"

His face contorted with surprise and disbelief. "Abandoned you? Alessa, I didn't abandon you," he replied, his voice tinged with sadness.

"Yeah, sure," I muttered, not believing he had the audacity to lie to my fucking face.

"No, I'm serious. You were kidnapped when you were 15 years ago, and honestly, we all thought you were dead. But we never stopped looking for you. It's like you had disappeared," he explained, his voice filled with a mixture of sorrow and desperation.

"I thought... He told me," I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Are you lying to me," I ask.

His face contorted into sadness. "No, Alessa, I'm not lying to you. I understand why you're feeling skeptical right now, but I swear it's the truth. We searched for you tirelessly, never giving up hope."

Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked into his earnest gaze. I wanted so desperately to believe him, but doubts lingered in my mind.

"I... I don't know what to believe anymore," I admitted, my voice trembling.

He reached out and gently took my hand, his touch offering reassurance. "I understand, Alessa. It's a lot to process, and I don't expect you to trust me immediately. But please know that I never stopped loving you or searching for you."

A mix of emotions swirled inside me—doubt, anger, confusion, but also a glimmer of longing for a connection that had been severed for so long. I looked into his eyes, searching for any signs of deception, but all I saw was genuine remorse.

"I want to believe you," I whispered, my voice filled with vulnerability. "But it's going to take time."

He nodded, understanding evident in his gaze. "I'll give you all the time you need, Alessa. Just know that I love you so much and I never stopped"

As I felt Ace's familiar hands wrap around me from behind, wiping away my tears. I leaned into his embrace.

"Let's have dinner, yes," My dad says nodding towards Ace's parents. They nodded and we all went to the dining room.
