Andi.

Andi,
Who comes over
After exhausting weeks
Who is drained
After a long retreat
But chooses to spend
The night with me
So that she
Can help me
With a project
That's important to me 

I have Andi
Andi comes over
In the midst of exhaustion
And long work weeks
To sit with me
And bare her soul for an hour
Each week

I have Andi
Who helped me glue
And cut
And craft
My project
Until her back hurt
And her fingers were sore

I have Andi
Who wept with me
At camp
As she apologized
For things
I had long since forgiven

I have Andi
Who gives me long hugs
And stays by my side
Even when I'm focused
On another conversation

I have Andi
Who tries to escape being loved
But for some reason
Sometimes
Let's me have the privilege
Of loving her

I have Andi
Who asked me to be her guest
For her birthday party

I have Andi
Who is a gift from the Lord
And who I am grateful
To have the opportunity
To love
And to be loved by
