EPILOGUE THREE – THREE YEARS AFTER THE END...ISH

MAY’S P.O.V

“Are you sure he’s been okay?” It’s madness at Hope’s place, I can hardly hear her, but I don’t think she’d have it any other way.

“He’s fine babe, you know he’s an angel. He’s been following Verona around like a puppy dog picking up after her. Honestly, stay there, I want to keep him.” My Little Ocean, there's no one that doesn't fall immediately in love with him. “How’s Italy?”

“Freakishly unchanged.” I don’t know why I thought it would, most of these buildings have been here for centuries, but as I make my way through the streets of Verona it’s like stepping back five years all over again. “I still don’t understand why he couldn’t just meet me at the fucking airport like a normal person.”

“I think it’s romantic, meeting the love of your life at Juliet’s balcony. Will you just let me live my Hallmark movie dreams through you, please!” She’s such a romantic. It makes me sick.

It’s so good to have her home. I can’t believe she had to miss Milo and Josh’s wedding though, even Kage couldn't make it back because of the volcano eruption. Hope was in Spain with her dance kids, they got through to the finals of the world competition, and Kage was here doing promotion for the next European Tour. Both of them were only supposed to be gone for two days, but the eruption had them stuck in Europe for over a week.

They watched the live stream Brie set up, I think Kage was crying worse than Mama T at Milo’s vows. That boy really knows how to bring us all out in a sobbing mess.

It was a beautiful day, perfect in fact. Every minute.

But now I want my man back.

“Okay, I’ll try. Just give my Little Ocean a kiss for me and tell him Mom and Dad will be home soon.”

“I will, hun. You just... enjoy your trip. You both really d-deserve this.” Why is she getting so weepy? It’s just a weekend away. I swear she’s fucking pregnant again.

“I love you, Louise.”

“I love you m-more, Thelma. Now go... Oh, and bring me back some of those pastries! The ones Marco sent over for Kage at Christmas!” Yep, she’s definitely pregnant again.

Kage has been crashing with Sofia and Marco while he's been stuck. I think she’s liked it, having him and Tino home. Although I never thought either of us would ever come back here.

The same roads, the same bustling streets I ran through covered in blood. I’ve got such conflicting memories of this place, but looking at the sunshine, the beautiful architecture and the smiling people, it just reminds me of the first time.

This is where our story really began, the day we decided we’d always have Verona.

“Where are you...?” He’s close, I can feel him.

When the company sent him to Italy, I still had a bolt of fear go through me. I don’t need to, no one here is a threat to us anymore, but a part of me will be much happier when we're back home.

Although everyone there has been acting fucking crazy for days. Making me get manicures, taking me on spa days, pampering me like a prize pony for the fair. Weirdos.

“Shorty...” That voice. Everyone parts, the usual bustling fountain area splitting open, until I look across the courtyard to see him standing there.

How can he still take my breath away like this?

I should probably play it cool, act like it's no big deal we’ve only been able to video-chat for a week, but that’s bullshit. I run across the courtyard, dropping my bag on the way and leaping into his arms. He laughs like mad, spinning us around and around, squeezing me tighter than I wrap my legs around his waist.
