Colby's POV

"Are we sure it's a good idea to bring you down to the office?" Corey asked as I rolled my eyes. "Well do you idiots want help or not?" I asked blandly.

"I mean yeah but everyone thinks you died. Do you realize how dangerous this can get for you?" Corey asked as I stood up.

"Well aware." I said then held my hand out. "I'm driving." I said as Jake chuckled.

"Some things never change." He said as Corey handed me his keys.

"Yeah, you idiots don't know how to do anything to I have to fix it." I said then led the way to the car.

"Harsh." Jake said as I nodded. "True." I retorted then got in the driver's seat. I didn't want to admit that I was enjoying being charge again because that meant it would suck to leave.

I loved Julia and the kids and living a normal life wasn't that bad, but something about being in charge of a rescue mission felt so right.

Driving through the city that I essentially owned for years felt so nostalgic I almost forgot how severe the situation we were dealing with was.

Sam was missing and the longer it took, the worse off he would be.

The only information I was able to muster up was that he was being a little standoffish about the situation, then before he could explain anything he was gone.

So I basically knew nothing.

"This place hasn't changed a bit." I said as we pulled into the fake auto body shop with the gangs office underneath.

"Yeah, there are a couple of updated things but we kept it pretty basic." Jake said as I nodded. "Very cool." I said then got out of the car.

I put on my typical hard stare, trying to look as intimidating as possible.

I wasn't sure if these people would know who I was, but if they did I had to seem just as scary as they remembered.

As far as they knew, I was dead. The fact I wasn't and that I was showing my face here meant I needed to be aggressive and proactive.

"Holy shit." Steve said as the elevator opened, revealing Jake, Corey, and I. "He's baaaaack." Jake sang as I rolled my eyes.

"Gather everyone in the conference room. Nobody leaves until I speak to everyone." I said to Steve then started walking to my old office.

I assumed it was going to be Sam's since that's where all the security cameras were wired to. I needed to scope things out in hopes that I would get some actual answers.

Something fishy was going on and I was determined to get to the bottom of it.

I didn't know Sam's pin to his office but I did know how to reset the lock since it was mine to begin with.

Once I was in the office I felt my heart shift with nostalgia. There were so many years I spent in this office, keeping our gang afloat.

This was the office that Julia and I fell in love in. I still remember when she would sit across from me and color while I weighed drugs or made routes.

It was such a simple time back then and we didn't even realize. I thought the biggest stress of my life was when Quill wanted to work with me to find the missing gem that ended up being his fucking daughter.

Since that moment life has been a never ending cycle of bullshit and stress. The only constant we had was the love we had for each other.

I closed the door to the office then started carefully going through Sam's stuff. I was trying to be respectful of his stuff but I needed to find any sort of clue.
