Colby's POV

I couldn't get over how in love I was with Maisie and how proud of Julia I was.

I knew Julia was struggling, I could see it in her eyes but I was going to be with her every step of the way.

Right now I was going to get her some food since she worked so hard to bring Maisie into the world.

It was incredibly hard seeing her be in so much pain for so long, but I was so beyond proud of her.

This was a huge step for her and her addiction and although I knew she was feeling down I was going to make sure she knew how good she did.

As I drove to pick up the food I decided to give Sam a call since I didn't really get to talk to him much during his visit.

We were mostly concerned about the kids meeting Maisie since this was going to be a huge shift for them.

I wanted to know how my best friend felt about all of it.

"Hey, man." Sam asked as I chuckled. "How are things going there?" I asked, hearing the kids arguing about something on the other end of the line.

"Uhh...They are arguing about something dumb but Jake and Corey have trained me to ignore this type of thing." He said as the sounds of kids arguing got quieter.

"How are things going there? She's really cute, man." Sam said as I sighed. "She really is. I can't believe I'm really a dad." I said and focused on the road.

"Does it make you nervous at all?" Sam asked as I nodded.

"Of course. Julia is terrified though." I said with a sigh. "I mean that understandable for sure. She's been through some heavy trauma." Sam said as I nodded.

"Yeah, I just wish there was something I could do to ease her mind." I said and pulled up to the restaurant I was getting food from.

"Just give her time, there's a lot of emotion that goes into having a baby as it is. Adding the idea of crime lords being after her baby is just an adds a different level of emotion." Sam explained as I nodded.

"Yeah y-" I started but was interrupted by my phone buzzing with another call. "Shit, Jules is calling me. I'll call you later." I said then switched the call over to Julia.

"Jules? You okay?" I asked as she breathed a laugh.

"Yeah, can you pick me up a chocolate cake?" She asked as I got out of the car to get the food we ordered.

"Like...a whole cake?" I asked with a laugh. "Yeah. Like the whole thing. We gotta throw Maisie a birthday party." She said causing me to grin.

"Oh yeah?" I asked as she hummed. "Yep." She said as I nodded.

"Okay, baby. I'm grabbing the food now, then I'll swing by the store and get the cake. Anything else you want?" I asked as she hummed.

"Nope, I think that's it for now." She said with a small giggle. "Alright. I'll be back soon." I said then hung up.

"Picking up for Colby." I said as the girl nodded. "Perfect timing." She said and grabbed the bag. "Thanks." I said then handed her a twenty for the tip before leaving.

Once I had the food I went to the nearest grocery store and picked up a cake along with a bouquet of flowers.

When I got back to the hospital I went up to the room Julia was in.

I felt my heart skip a beat when I walked in to see Julia cuddled up with Maisie. The baby was lulled asleep as Julia quietly sang to her, rubbing her back.
