Corbin kept glancing at me from the corner of his eye before he looked at the road. He didn't say a word while he looked at me again and then looked at the road, biting the inside of his lip

I didn't say a word while I looked at the road, gripping the steering wheel tighter with each glance he gave my way. My whole body was tense, and it took all of my self-control not to create a scene in the truck, especially since we were still on pack lands that didn't "belong" to us.

Corbin cleared his throat and shifted in the seat. "Kel?" he asked softly, and I grabbed the steering wheel tighter while I set my jaw and narrowed my eyes. "Are you ok?"

Still, I didn't say a word, but I growled softly in warning, silently telling him to shut up because I did not want to speak with him.

"Are you mad?" he asked, pointing out the obvious, and I flashed him an annoyed look before I looked at the road again. "Yep," he said while he nodded. He cleared his throat and shifted in his seat. "You are definitely mad. I mean you haven't even touched your stuff besides your coffee."

"Shut up, Corbin," I seethed while I bared my teeth in warning, growling softly and narrowing my eyes. "I am not in the mood to speak with you."

Corbin sighed and shook his head before he moved a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry," he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper before he cleared his throat and shifted in his seat. "I didn't think that they would take your card."

I grunted and didn't respond while I grabbed my steering wheel tighter.

"Do you have a way to lock it?" he asked.

I grunted again before I nodded because I did have a way to lock my card.

"Was that your only card?" he asked, and I gave him a pointed look before I looked at the road again. He grinned innocently and raised his eyebrows in unison. "What?" he asked with a small chuckle in his voice. "When have I ever listened to you, Kel?"

I rolled my eyes and stayed silent while I kept my gaze on the road.

All too soon, flashing lights lit up behind me and then a siren sounded too while a cop tried to pull me over.

"Goddess, damnit," I seethed and slammed my hand on the steering wheel, getting very annoyed at the cop because all I wanted to do was get off packlands as soon as possible. "Just what I fucking need."

"Well, that sucks," Corbin said while I pulled over and parked the truck, waiting for them to come over to us. "What did you do?" he asked while he raised an eyebrow in question.

"Nothing," I said and rolled the window slightly before I placed my hands on the steering wheel, not reaching for my driver's license or anything else because I had no idea if this cop was human or wolf. "I was following the fucking speed limit and everything. I don't know why they are pulling me over."

"Hopefully, it's only human," Corbin said, and I rolled my eyes and scowled. "I mean, then you don't have to worry about it too much." He leaned a bit back in his seat and sighed while he waited for them to come to the window.

"I don't care if it's human or not," I grumbled. "All I want to do is get back to the cab, so I can go to bed."

Corbin bit back a small snort and slowly nodded. "Well, hopefully they will come out soon," he said. He cleared his throat and shifted in his seat. "What's the plan for tomorrow?" he asked, changing the subject, and I looked at him from the corner of my eye.

"Seriously?" I asked while I raised an eyebrow in question, glancing at him from the corner of my eye before I looked through the rearview mirror. "Why are you worrying about that now when we have a cop coming toward us?" I nodded toward the back of the truck where two officers stepped out and started to make their way toward us.

Corbin shrugged and looked at me nonchalantly. "I mean, it helps keep you occupied and not focusing on them," he said. He cleared his throat and grew serious. "So?" he asked while he raised an eyebrow question. "What are we going to do?"

I rolled my eyes and scowled. "Same stuff as yesterday," I replied coldly, "and today. We gain and look at information, and I try not to get too annoyed with you."

Corbin bit back a laugh while he slowly nodded. "Of course," he said. "Are you trying to get together with your boyfriend?" he asked while he wiggled his eyebrows in a suggestive manner.

My cheeks turned red when he said that, and he grinned at me. "He is not my boyfriend," I said. "Now, can you shut up? They are close, and my window is open."

"Awww, come on, Kel," he teased, and he would have nudged me if we weren't waiting for the officers. "He is your boyfriend, or close to being your boyfriend." He winked again, and I rolled my eyes and scowled, my cheeks turning another shade of red.

"Shut up, Corbin," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "Please."

Corbin bit back a small snort and stayed silent because the people were close enough to "hear" us.

The officer knocked on my window, and I sighed and rolled down the window just a bit more. "License and registration," the officer said, "and your information, Rogue," he added while he narrowed his eyes and bared his teeth in warning, and I held back an eye roll while Corbin snorted. He looked at Corbin and scowled, narrowing his eyes further. "You as well," he said.

"Awww, that is so sweet," Corbin said with a grin while he grabbed his wallet from his back pocket. "I am getting carded, too. My heart is filled with warmth and joy."

I rolled my eyes and scowled before I did what I was told to do and grabbed my paperwork too, handing it over to the cop. "Corbin," I warned, and he snickered.

"Listen to your partner," the officer said while he scowled and narrowed his eyes while he looked at Corbin. "You don't want to get yourself and her in trouble, Rogue."

Corbin bit back a small snort and rolled his eyes while he looked at that male. "A Rogue?" he asked while he raised an eyebrow in question. "Seriously? Did you call me a Rogue?"

The cop scowled and tried to use his "Alpha" powers on us, and I scoffed a laugh and rolled my eyes while I scowled. "You are; aren't you?" he asked while he bared his teeth and growled, and Corbin stilled and grew tense while he stared at the Alpha. "Do you want us to take you both out of the vehicle and detain you?"

"Now, now, I wouldn't suggest that," Corbin warned, and instead of the goofy man that I knew was replaced by one of the men that worked for the king. "You don't know who you are messing with."

He flicked open his wallet to show the badge of being a King's Guard, and the cop's eyes grew wide and filled with shock.

Corbin smirked and dipped his head closer to his chest while he stared at the cop, his eyes burning with power and anger. "You don't want to piss off the wrong person by trying to play a power move to someone who is more powerful than you."
