Prologue

"Remind me," 

She raised her glass off the table and stared at the swirling clear liquid.

"Why are you suggesting this?"

He placed his hands behind his head in a relaxed manner.

"Who knows? Some upper dude's willing to pay a crud ton to support us on this."

"Hmph. Whatever."

She threw some coins down on the table.

"Payment for my useless life."

"Bring in Patient 2110,"

She stood behind the glass, hands in her pocket.

"Hello there,"

She chuckled.

"Pathetic aren't ya?"

Through the glass, glowing blue eyes stared back at her and narrowed.

"It's gonna be okay. I'm getting you out of this place."

A clenched fist slammed on the glass, making her step back.

"Geez, learn some manners. Anyway, I've got a case for you. Prove yourself, and you'll be on the next ship outta here. Got it?"

She threw the documents on the floor and exited the room.

The patient walked through the door on the side of the glass and picked up the file.

"Get yourself killed, well, I hope you find a good place in hell."

"What does she take us for? Beasts?"

The blue-eyed girl read the file, thumping through the pages with a thoughtful look on her face.

"And they're also dragging Kotori into this,"

"Not forgetting Nico."

The blue-eyed girl sat up straight.

"At least we can get out of here, after all this is over."

"They are involving Nozomi too, Eli. Aren't you worried?"

The bluenette leaned back onto the dark wall and looked at her with shining golden eyes.

"Course I am, Umi. I just...I don't want to appear weak. I'll protect her."

Eli placed the file down.

"Let me see that."

The redhead picked it up and flipped through it.

"What? They gave us little to no information about the target. How are we supposed to carry the operation out effectively?"

"Through our own means, I suppose."

The red head threw the file and it landed against the wall, sliding down because of the grime plastered on it.

"We are not slaves. Why on earth are they making us do this? We've already done tons of missions for them in the past."

Eli glanced at the redhead and smiled bitterly.

"Well, we are beasts after all, Maki-chan."

The redhead snorted.

"As long as Nico is safe,"

Umi nodded in agreement.

"We'll have to tell them when the time comes right?"

Eli stood up and brushed her black pants, shooting side glances at the two on the floor beside her.

"Yeah, we'll have to."
