"Don't you dare touch her!" Caius growls.

Members of the Volturi that were not influenced were currently on their knees, chained to the wall to incapacitate them of movement. The ones that were influenced were aligned next to each other along the wall of the throne room.

The Romanian Coven managed to break through castle walls with me in their grasp, using me as leverage to get through the walls. It was an ugly situation and I didn't quite know if we would out of this safely and peacefully. It honestly looked like it was about to get worse.

I had just been pushed to my knees, the co-leader of the Romanian Coven, Stefan, currently grasping my chin from behind me, forcing my head to look up as my neck was being strained. Vladimir stood by looking gleeful at Caius' reaction. My mates were furious, so were the guards.

"I'm fine, Caius." I told him. "They won't do anything to me."

Lie.

To be honest, things weren't going as I had hoped they would. Nor were they going to plan.

My mates were already captured, the elite guard were chained to the wall, alongside my mates. Other ranking guards were under the influence of Gabriel. The only reason why my mates and the elite guard weren't influenced was because the Romanians wanted my mates to be dead, and well, Gabriel wanted the elite guard to see their rulers die while still being conscious.

And lastly, the Denalis and the Cullens were nowhere in sight; no ally of the Volturi was in sight. The Cullens were slowly gaining back into allyship with us, but only because Aro didn't want any hostility with Carlisle. The Denalis weren't exactly on board with us either, but only agreed to come because of me being Garrett's best friend, and that the Denali coven seemed to like me.

During the meeting with the Cullens

"I suggest you have your coven and your cousins, the Denalis, prepare to fight with us, Carlisle. You are a dear friend to Amity, and I am sure she would appreciate your presence, even though how skewed our relationship might be at this very moment. I do hope our relationship heals to a much greater relationship between our covens than before."

"I agree, Aro. Amity is a great friend of ours. Garrett, I assume you will convince your coven to join, as well?"

"Of course. Amity is my best friend! I'll always be there for her!"

"And I you, Garrett. Thank you, guys. This really means a lot to us."

"We will message you when we believe they are to attack soon. And of course, there is Alice."

"Yes, there is Alice, but we will also come if there is a message, Caius."

"Good. Then this meeting is adjourned?"

"Adjourned."  Marcus says.

Back to present

Things were just not going to plan.

Echoes bounce of the marbled wall as Vladimir taunts, "how does it feel to lose, Aro? How does it feel to ache at the thought of another love one dying, Marcus? How does it feel to be restrained from protecting your mate, Caius? How does it feel knowing that you're about to lose your mate, Volturi scum? How does it feel to be overthrown?"

"They get the point." I choke out.

Stefan grips his hold on my chin tighter and I let out a whimper.

"Silence, you Volturi whore." he spits.

A growl fills the room, "treat her with respect!" yells Caius.
