I know this is pretty shorter than normal. I'm getting really tired and realized I didn't update yesterday. I thought I did, but I didn't, so I thought of updating real quick. Anyway, enjoy!

Since the ball, Aro had instructed the guard to train harder than ever before, harder than they did when they first battled the Romanian Coven. I barely saw Demetri, Felix, Heidi, Chelsea, and the others since Alice's vision. They were all too busy training every day, never taking a break. The only guard I saw often was Corin, who was instructed to keep me company like she did with, well, you know who. Afraid of the Romanians invading the Volterra, Caius had ordered to have my belongings to be put in the tower, where I was currently staying. My mates, especially Caius, did not want to risk me being put in danger.

I throw the apple stress ball at the wall and watch as it bounces back into my hand. I do it again and again. I was immensely bored. There was barely anything to do up here. I already played Uno with Corin a thousand times--and I'm not exaggerating.

How does a vampire get bored? I think to myself.

I finally had enough with the ball throwing, and with a sigh, I stand up from the chair and make my way to the new sewing cabinet I had just delivered to me by one of the lower guards. I had wanted to try out new things and Aro happily obliged. He knew I used to sew tirelessly back in the 1700s. It wasn't just a hobby back then, but a necessity. And so, agreeing to my request, he bought me a sewing machine. I never once tried the mechanical form of sewing--just handsewing. I was curious to how it performed.

"Let's see," I mumble under my breath. "Insert the thread onto the spool here...yes, yes that's it. And then," I take the white cap. "Place the cap on top of it. Then what?" I pick up the instruction manual and place my index finger on step three: threading the bobbin. "Okay. Sounds easy enough." I take the empty bobbin and place it on the metal bobbin holder and slide it to the right before pushing the foot pedal, watching it as the thread fills the bobbin. The machine automatically stops the movement when the bobbin is deemed full. "Oh, wow. It knows when it's full. That's cool. Alright and now..." I pause as I continue to read the instruction manual. "Take the thread and cut it to a reasonable amount and take the bobbin out and place it into the top drop-in box. Okay there. And then take the thread and wind it counterclockwise before taking it out of the silt and leaving it to the side. Then, take the thread from the spool and follow the guidelines on top of the sewing machine. Alright there we go. And now either use the needle threader that can be dropped by a lever or do it manually."

After reading the instructions and following it, the sewing machine is ready. I take the fabric and slide it underneath the foot before turning the wheel on the side to lower it. Then, I press my foot on the pedal and glide the fabric as the needle sews a straight stitch on the fabric. When satisfied, I raise the needle and take the thread and cut it with the cutter that's on the side of the sewing machine before placing the fabric back down to try out the other stitch applications and technique.

A knock sounds at the door and I hear Corin shuffle over to the door and open it.

"My Lady?" Corin asks me.

"Mhm?"

"Marcus is here to see you." Corin tells me.

My eyes widen and I turn off the sewing machine before running over to the door to throw myself in Marcus' arms. I hadn't seen him nor my other mates for days. I've been locked in the tower since an attack was made on a lower guard who was guarding the Volterra walls. The Romanian threat was very real.

"Marcus." I breathe.

"Hello, il mio amore. I see you've been using the sewing machine?" he inquires.

I nod. "It's the only new thing in here that's been entertaining me. Do I really need to be locked up in here? Couldn't I just roam around the castle with a guard or two accompanying me?"

He shakes his head. "I'm afraid not, dear. We can't trust that the enemy won't attack the castle and be able to get through the walls. We don't want you to get hurt, la mia piccola farfalla."

"You guys aren't visiting me much." I change the subject.

Marcus weakly smiles. "I know, dear. We're too busy making sure Volterra is protected and, of course, you as well. You're our top priority. We can't imagine anything happening to you."

"I understand, I just wish you guys visited much more often. The company is scarce as it is."

"Perhaps I should tell Corin...?"

I shake my head. "No. I don't need her gift to be content. I just need you, Caius, and Aro." I say.

Marcus grins and kisses my forehead. "What would we do without you, hm?"

"Probably be your grumpy selves." I tell him.

He throws his head back and laughs. "Probably." He leans in and kisses me on the lips and I kiss back. "I should go. Aro, Caius, and I have more war planning to do. Aro will be here tomorrow. See you, amore."

"See you."
