At night kaka was resting on an armchair trying to connect the incidents. The day Bondita was injured Sumati ma accused Anirudh. She may have accused him out of grief but her words "aapne to kaha tha aap meri beti ki bhalai ke liye yehsab kar rahe ho..".. this words aren't words of grief. He never heard Anirudh say so. Then when did he tell her so. Today in the garden he was crying hard but his expressions changed when he named Manorama. Why? Why there was no sign of grief for Manorama before and the way he changed expressions today clearly point that he was crying for something else.
Kaka just couldnot match the sum. There is a missing clue a missing link. Anirudh is hiding something from them. He's hiding something big from them.
Next moring Dr. Bose comes to treat Bondita. Anirudh tells her about her fierce stare.
"Anirudh babu mujhe lagta hain woh thick ho rahi hain per apko uske under ka sara gussa drain out karna hoga. Use force karna hoga ki woh apke upar uska sara gussa nikal de..."
"Per doctor agar firse kuch ulta sidha ho geya...." hesitated Anirudh
"Dekhiye Anirudh babu aap apni Bondita ko jarur acche se jante honge... aap jante honge uske sath kaise deal karne hain... main kuch nehi kar sakti yaha sab aapko hi karna hoga.."
"Meri beti thick to ho jaigi na memsahab" Sumati ma interrupts from behind
"Aap chinta na kijiye ma ji Bondita jarur thick ho jaigi.." assured Dr. Bose
"Aur ha Anirudh babu" continued Bose "Bondita pehle pehle apko dur dhakelna jarur chahegi.. per apko apne apko sabid karna parega uske samne... aur ma ji", she turns towards Sumati "aap use pati devta keya fir aisa kuch kehke rogiye ga mat.. woh roye to apne sine se laga lena but uska gussa nikal ne main use rogiya ga nehi...."
Suddenly they heard some chaos outside.
"Keya hua" wondered Dr. Bose..
"Sayed kaka ke paas gaowale aye hain apni kuch samasya leke... aap ayiye..." Anirudh went with Dr. Bose to see her off...
Anirudh along with Dr. Bose reached the main door.
"Dekhiye Trilochan babu dekhiye... apke ghar main yeh aurat har din ati hain aur apka beta use har din darwaje per chor ke jate hain... " said one of the villagers from the crowd...
Both Anirudh and Dr. Bose was shocked
Bondita also heard the chaos. . She pulled her mother's hand and signed her to take her out side... though she denied but Bondita continued to pull her hand .
Koyeli and Sumati took her out of the room. They stood at a distance near the Study door.
"Yeh aap sab keya bol rahe ho??.." asked Anirudh angrily..
"Hum sab sahi bol rahe hain Anirudh babu... aise ek jawan aiburo (unmarried ) larki ka roj ghar main ana accha lagta hain keya??"
"Dr. Bose Bondita ki ilaj karne ati hain .. ghumne nehi ati woh.." answered Anirudh angrily
"Keya ek aurat woh bhi doctor... ek aurat keya doctori karegi... apka dheyan to Bondita bahu rani pe hain nehi.. unki to samta nehi ki apka dheyan paye.. ek dusri shadi ki toh woh bhi na tiki aab yeh...."
"KHAMOSHHH.." screamed Anirudh
"Naak katwa di humari" whispered kaka in disgust
Dr. Bose's blood was boiling .. now she spoke out.. She looked straight into the eyes of the villagers
"Aaplogo ko keya haq hain kisi aur ke charitra pe ungli uthane ka" her voice was calm but firm
"R a charitra pe to ungli uthega hi... aap har roj ate ho aur Anirudh babu ke sath..."
"Aap ko maine koi haq nehi diya hain mere bare main sochne ka" interrupted Bose " main yaha ati hu Bondita ki ilaz karne.. Anirudh babu uski abhibabak hain toh unse hi to baat karungi na main... aur keya keh rahe the aap aurat keya doctori karegi... mard doctor ko to aap log aurat ki ilaz karne nehi dete aur aurat doctor ke liye aplogo ka keya bichar jain yeh to dikh hi raha hain.. aap logo ko aurat ko maut ke mu chor dena hi uchit lagta hain... ta aurat o ke age barne se aplogo ko itna DARR keu lagta hain?? keya aplogo ko yeh daar lagta hain hi agar aurat pardh likh legi to apne aap sochne lageli.. taab aap mardlog unpe chori kaise gumayenge?? ek do tin char shadiya karenge kaise??.. pari likhi larkiya to apna haq magengi na jo aaplogo ko dena nehi hain..."
The villagers had no counters to her words.. her smart throw of voice just shut everyone up. Bondita who was standing at a distance was mesmerised by her smartness and words. The amazement and admiration became visible on her face. Anirudh was also stunned by her.
"Dusro ki charitra per ungli uthne se pehle apni khud ki niyat saaf kijiye.." continued Bose " aap sab logo ko apni taraf besharam samajte hain keya?? Jayiye aur apna kaam kijiye. .."
The villagers had nothing to say.. what will they say anymore words will make their own izzat dhila..
"Chalo sab chalo.."
The villagers left
"Accha chalti hu Anirudh babu" Bose folded her hands to greet Anirudh and then turned to kaka "Dusro ki baat per itna dheyan na de Zamindarbabu.. log keya kehenge ke upar bhi kuch hain duniya main.. log keya kahenge se darenge to samaj age kaise barega... chalti hu.. namaskar"
Kaka was also filled with admiration by her sweet straight voice but he dared not show it on him.
Bondita was just so delighted by Bose. Anirudh turned back and saw the expression of delight on her. He understood that Bose's words have touched her. He went towards her and knelt down but Bondita turned her face away. She pulled her mother's hand and forced her to take her back to her room.
Anirudh sat there and a tear rooled down from his eyes.
Kaka saw it all from behind. Anirudh's only concern is for Bondita. But there is something hidden deep inside. He needs to find it out.
