Present day

The party was like an official celebration in regards to project Almanac.
Since I was the project manager, it was my job to be there.

I wasn't happy about it, but I wanted to prove to Laura that I really have moved on.
The theme was black and white.
Laura picked out a beautiful black dress that I wanted to wear with sneakers, but she hid all my sneakers and forced me to wear heels, I could barely stand.
I was ready to go but kyle wasn't, he was the one who was supposed to wait for me.
We were late already and I hate being late.
He finally came out of his room and we left for the party.

I was not ready to go back to the house, I wasn't ready to see him either.
I thought I had moved on, but I clearly haven't, and that thought scared me.
I wasn't over it.
The party was bigger than I thought it was, but it was rich peoples party, they played boring music and served tiny snacks.
I looked around for bruce, I really wanted to talk to him instead, I saw jason but he wasn't alone.
He walked up to me, the woman was holding his hand, she looked very familiar, when they finally got close enough, I remembered her.
She was the one he came home with, the day I left the house.
I was a little heartbroken, when I realized that he had replaced me.
"Jason, isn't this your ex wife"she said rudely.
"Am eve and you are" I stretched my hand, I wanted to show jason that she didn't affect me in any way.
"Scarlet"she said ignoring my stretched out hand.
Wow she was rude, I hated her already.
"What are you doing here anyway"she asked.
"Am here for the party, obviously"I smiled.
She stared at me like she wanted to kill me, then she left.
"Thank you for coming to my party"jason said.
I hissed and left to find kyle, that was mean  and I liked it. He deserves it.
"Eve"
I turned around and couldn't stop smiling,it was bruce.
He pulled me in for a hug.
"I thought you wouldn't attend the party"he said as he put his hands into his pocket.
"I didn't want to,but kyle made me"
"Isn't kyle your boss"
"Yeah he is"I nodded, I already knew where this was going.
"Are you dating him"
"No, of course not, just friends"I don't know if it was my imagination, but he looked relieved.
"Am happy to see how far you grew"
"Who's scarlet"I asked bluntly
"She's been with Jason since you left"
"What are you not telling me"I crossed my arms, scarlet wasn't Jason's type, he was keeping her for a reason and I wanted to know.

"Eve, I don't think this is the right time or place to talk about this"
"Fine"now I was sure something was going on.
I didn't even notice that kyle was standing next to me until he tapped my shoulder.
"Kyle, you know bruce, right" the,air was unusually tense.

"Yes, I know him"kyle said stretching his hands.
"Welcome Mr larson"bruce took his hands and awkwardly left
"What's his problem"kyle said when he was sure that kyle was far away.
"I don't know"I said as I took a glass of wine from the waiter.
"Why didn't you tell me"

"Tell you what"I was confused, what was he talking about.
"That Jason is your ex"he smiled.
"How'd you know"
"Am a very...... Smart person" he winked.
Now he was just mocking me.
"You're not that smart"I lied, he was smartest person I knew, but I wasn't going to tell him that.

"You know, you should stop lying"
"Am not a liar, am not going to keep talking about this"I walked away like there was someone waiting for me. I decided to just go outside for a while, I was feeling very suffocated.

The evening breeze felt amazing, it was one of the few things people never seem to notice or appreciate.
"You should stop avoiding me"jason said as he stood next to me.
I rolled my eyes, but I didn't say anything.
"Am sorry about scarlet, she was rude"
Still nothing
"Am happy that you are still friends with bruce"
I had nothing to say to him.

"I hope we get to talk again"he left, with a broken ego.
Honestly, I couldn't wait to go home but I can't until bruce officially announced the commencing of project Almanac.
After a while I finally went back inside, happy to see that the announcement had almost finished, and that means soon I'll be allowed to go home.

"And lastly, I would like to thank kyle larson and his company for their support of our idea, and their encouragement, I hope project Almanac goes farther than we expected, thank you for attending"
The people clapped and I left to find kyle, so we could leave.
