Sofia's Pov

I trust Esme's judgement, so if she says Caius is a trustworthy man, then i will give him a little trust just for now, and once he has prouded he can be trusted he will have all my trust. He sat behind Esme the whole time, not once did he move to do anything, and he didn't stare at me or make me feel uncomfortable, which was a relief. I wanted him to sit close to me, but i also didn't at the same time, and this internal battle is starting to upset me because i don't want to be this scared anymore. Everything is just getting so overwhelming, and i don't know how to handle it anymore it's making me want to give all my trust into one person so they can take control. The only problem is, i don't know who yo give all my trust, too, and that is adding onto my already stressed mind. I want to place the trust on to Esme, but she is too soft to take control then i think of Caius and i think he would be the perfect person but i don't know him enough to ask him to take control. Esme did say i was his mate, and he is trustworthy, but what does he like and dislike? Does he want to take control of someone who needs help with making decisions, to feel safe, and to be free. I don't want someone to control my life they just need to help me make decisions and help me feel grounded. It's complicated, but i know what i mean and want. I just don't know who to pick for that big step in my life because they have to understand why i want them to take this control to help me heal.

Suddenly, the nest room slams open with so much force that the door snaps when it collides with the wall. I whimper when i see Edward standing there with a murderous expression on his face, and in seconds, Caius is standing in front of me, snarling at Edward. While Caius is doing that, Esme jumps into the nest and cuddles me into her chest, letting out a hiss as she glares at Edward. My whole body is shaking in fear because that expression on his face is the same one my papà had when he would beat me, and i don't want to be beaten again. In a blink of an eye, Caius is no longer standing in front of me he is now standing over an armless Edward who is cowering in fear on the floor. I look at Caius again, only to see him holding the arm that is missing from Edward's body, and he is still snarling, looking down at Edward. Seeing him protect me like this has me immediately feeling safe in his presence, and i no longer feel uncomfortable it's like he has just proved himself with just doing this one act.

"No one scares my little mate! No one!" Caius snarls

"Edward, what has gotten into you!" Esme snarls holding me tighter to her chest

"She is nothing more than a broken human who needs to die! She won't be a strong queen, and i won't have a weak queen!" Edward snarls from the ground only for Caius to place his foot on Edward's throat

"Non sono debole, non lo sono. (I'm not weak, I'm not)" I mumble, feeling the familiar feeling of my power's coming to the surface

"Yes, you are! Your mother would be so disappointed that her own child is a weak bitch!" Edward managed to snarl with Caius foot still on his throat

"Tu non sai niente di mia madre!. (You know nothing about my mother!)" I yell in anger as i feel my powers take control

"I didn't see this coming!" Alice said as she appears in the room

"There's water coming out the pipes!" Emmett said as he appeared beside Alice

"Your father was right to abuse, he should have killed you a long time ago!" Edward snarled and i snapped

"No! ero un bambino e non meritavo di essere picchiato e stuprato! Tu non sai niente di me e io non so più niente di me stesso!. (No! I was a child and I didn't deserve to be beaten and raped! You don't know anything about me, and I don't know anything about myself anymore!)" I yelled as i pushed away from Esme and threw my hands up towards Edward

"What the hell!" Emmett said in shock

Water and more water floated into the room and slammed into Edward with so much force that Edward ended up smashing through the fall. In an instant, i made the decision to trust Caius, and i jumped out the nest and then ran over to him, catching him by surprise. When i am in front of him, i jump into his arms, wanting to feel safe and shield away from harm. By doing this, the water floats away and goes back into the pipes, leaving everyone in shock. Caius immediately wraps his arms around my waist, and i wrap my legs around his waist so i don't fall.

"Ti prego, tienimi al sicuro, Caius. Mi fido completamente di te. per favore tienimi al sicuro. (Please keep me safe, Caius. I'm trusting you completely. please keep me safe.)" I mumble into Caius's neck, giving in to the feeling of trusting him

"I will always keep you safe amore mio (my love)." He said softly

"Esme, Demetri, and Felix will be taking Edward back to Volterra to be placed in our dungeons to face trail." A black haired, red-eyed vampire said, and i whimper, seeing an unknown male so close to me

"Aro, you need to back away. You're scaring my mate!" Caius hisses as he rubs my back with one of his hands

"I'm sorry, little one." He said softly as he backed away

"I understand Aro, if you didn't have him taken away, i would have asked you too." Esme said in her usual soft manner
