Next Day

It had been a whole day that Neil hadn't seen Avni. He had regained consciousness around noon yesterday when he woke up with a throbbing head. Taking a long shower, he made himself some lunch & ate in absolute silence. Cleaning up the mess that his drawing room was because of the broken vase, he only left his house in the evening. Making his way to the playground he tried to look for Avni as she usually went to play with the kids in the evening, but to his dismay, she hadn't come yesterday. He could feel the intensity of his guilt piling up when he couldn't find her anywhere. He had waited for her for quite a few hours before he decided to head back home. When he reached his floor, he had even contemplated the option of going to her house so that he could apologize but then chickened out the last minute.

I'll do it tomorrow for sure! - he had thought.

So, that was why he was sitting at one of the benches of the playground in their complex as he waited for Avni to come. And, today, she did come, however, she ignored Neil so royally that he almost thought she hadn't even realised his presence.

N - Avni, I'm sorry. I had just been in a bad state of mind since quite some time & behaved like that with you. I shouldn't have. I really am sorry. Could you forgive me, please? - he apologized as he sat next to her on the grass.

Gritting her teeth in frustration, Avni stood up from there & started to walk away from him when he held her hand & looked up at her while still sitting.

N - I promise I am not usually this rude, it..it just happened in the moment. And I really regret it. I'm sorry! - he spoke while still holding her hand.

A - You don't have to feel guilty about what happened. I understand that I was being too nosy & was poking my nose in things that I had no business in. I will not meddle with your life anymore if could please leave my hand! - she spoke with gritted teeth as she fought back her tears.

Neil sighed as he kept looking at her who refused to meet his eyes. He realised that she wasn't mad at him because he had shouted at her, but she was hurt because he assumed that she was just like all those people who just wanted to pry on his life for some gossips - just curiosity & no concern! She was better than that! He knew it but still ended up hurting her.

Determined to make it up for his rude behaviour, he let go of her hand as he watched her slowly walk away.

Avni halted in her steps when she head his voice. Ignoring him for one whole day was harder than Avni had originally thought it would be. She couldn't shake off his thoughts from her mind. She was hurt by the way he had not even let her explain her stance once, angry on herself for trying to intrude in his life, sad that she felt so strongly about him when he didn't even like her presence, worried that he'd take those pills recklessly without caring about his health. Avni turned around to see him walking towards her while he held one of his ear in his hand while the other hand was in his pocket.
