Life is a funny thing. You're born into an unfamiliar, bright place where you are expected to learn from a young age how to care for yourself. How you're supposed to react to different circumstances. And then you die, that's it. That's the end of your story.

Alannah wasnt much different, she grew more and more beautiful every day, developing into such a natural beauty that she turned heads wherever she went. By the age of 10, everyone knew who she was, she was that girl who lives on Faux Street with the striking green eyes and deep black hair. Who had a perfectly round beauty spot underneath the outer corner of her left eye. But what struck people the most about Alannah, the one thing that made people remember her was the fact that her right eye was half green and half brown, no one in the town of Jeopardy had eyes like hers. She was unique, special, unforgettable. Until she was forgotten.

Connor was Alannah's best friend, always by her side- rather - her by his. Connor was in the grade above Alannah, but their parents were close and in turn, forced a beautiful friendship between the two, one that was to last until the end. The end of what? Who was to know? Connor was your typical 'hot guy' at school, but unlike the cliches, he only ever had his eyes set on one girl, the girl with the emerald eyes.

By the age of 16, Alannah had matured to her full beauty, her hair was luscious and flowed way beyond her hips, her lips were full, plump and rosy pink, her eyes were round, doe-like and always, always shimmering with mischief. Every day Connor would drive his best friend home, only after they went to the little cafe on the corner of Reid and Jed streets for their daily milkshakes. But when he started to notice that Alannah's natural glow was beginning to dull he begun to keep an eye on her. But little did he know, she was deteriorating in front of him. Her eyes eventually lost their sparkle, her face was a sickly grey shade, her cheeks were sunken and dark black bags resided below her dull, unhappy eyes. Her lips were dry and cracking, sometimes bleeding from how dry they were. They lost their rosy pink colour and instead were the same ghostly grey as her face. She was getting skinnier and skinnier to the point where her ribs were showing and she could wrap her hand around her biceps comfortably with space to spare. Connor was beyond worried about her, and he didn't know what to do, Alannah wouldn't tell him what was wrong with her, just giving him an emotionless laugh and constantly blowing it off as "nothing" and that she just "felt sick".

Alannah was sick, very sick and everyone could see it. But this sickness that she had wound up landing her in a bed of depression and a trench of bad thoughts and actions. She wasn't okay, and no matter how much Connor or anyone for that matter tried to help her, she refused, because as far as she was concerned, no one cared. And now, to see Alannah smile, was like winning the lottery - pretty much impossible, and if you did, well then you just witnessed a miracle.

"Hi, you've reached Alannah, sorry I cant come to the phone right now, I'm probably laying at the bottom of a cliff. But like, totally leave a message and maybe if I'm not dead, I'll get back to you, yeah?" Beep.
