Chapter two
"So if you multiply the reciprocal of the number by..." My math teacher's voice was monotone.

"Ugh sometimes I think he's trying to put people asleep," Victoria whispered to me.
I laugh quietly, trying to go unnoticed by the teacher. He was practically deaf and never noticed when people talked. I still didn't want to take any chances.

The door suddenly swung open stopping with a hard crash against the pale blue wall. My eyes darted to the door where a guy walked in. "Hey isn't that the guy from this morning, what was his name?" Vikki questioned.

"I don't know, I don't think he told us," I replied, my eyes never leaving him.

"Ah you must be our new kid, why don't you introduce yourself to the class," Mr.Jenkins, our math teacher, instructed him.

"Caleb Hunter," his voice was laced with annoyance before he smirked, "and I'm sure all the ladies will love me,"

You have got to be kidding me. I mentally facepalmed. The whole class burst out into laughter and the girls swooned for him, as in physically swooned. I swore if it was humanly possible their eyes would have turned into hearts. You couldn't hide the fact that he's handsome, with his perfect jawline, clothes that perfectly hugged his body, fit appearance, and golden skin, but aside from that, he had nothing going for him. He acted as though he was better than everyone. Sadly, knowing this school, all he needed was exceptional looks and everyone would love him.

"Settle down class," Mr.Jenkins face was bright red and his eyes were the size of the moon, "You can take a seat next to Ms.Valentine," he mumbled.

My head snapped up at the mention of my last name. Please tell me I heard him wrong! Caleb and I make eye contact and the same feeling as before spreads through my body. This must have been what hatred felt like. I quickly broke eye contact and stared down at the floor, feeling my cheeks heat up. "Are you blushing?" Victoria teased me.

I slapped her on the arm and tried to hide my face. I pulled my sleeves over my hand and squished my cheeks so they were no longer visible. "No," I lied.

I was not gonna be like every other girl who swooned over Mr.Badboy. Victoria burst out into a fit of laughter causing her to fall off her chair. "You totally were!" She wheezed.

I peered down at her before glancing up around the room, only to see Caleb staring down at us with an amused look on his face. Please tell me he doesn't know what we're talking about. "Ms.Rose and Ms.Valentine settle down!" Mr.Jenkins scolded.

I looked sheepishly at the teacher, despising the added attention,  before carefully helping Vikki back on her chair while Caleb took his seat on the other side of me. Our desks were a long row of tables, which meant there was no gap between us. You have got to be kidding me. "Hey Scarlet," Caleb greeted.

I drew my eyebrows together, bringing my attention to Caleb. "My name's not Scarlet," How did he already mix me up with someone else? "it's Annabeth, that's what everyone calls me,"

"I don't want to be like everyone else, so Scarlet it is,"

I crinkled my nose in confusion. "Why Scarlett?"

"Because I want to,"

What a great reason.

I was thankful when lunch finally came. Victoria and I sat down at our usual table. We were the only people at that table, honestly, it appeared kind of lonely.
"So you really have all of your morning classes with him?" Victoria stared at me with disbelief, her face showing a bit of amusement.

"Yep, unbelievable right, of all people it had to be him. He has already made out with three different girls. It's only his first day!"

Victoria stared at me with a mischievous look on her face, "Is someone jealous?" She asked, poking my cheek.
