Chapter 44- Your safe now

"Hello there!" Harper says getting down to the little girls level
But the little girl doesn't respond
"I'm Harper! What's your name Honey?" Harper says putting her hand out towards the girl
The little girl flinches and Harper quickly pulls her hand away
"Okay! It's okay! Can you wait here for a sec?" Harper asks
The little girl nods as Harper makes her way out. She spots Kelly walking out
"Kelly!" Harper says grabbing his hand
"What?" Kelly says as Harper pulls him in
"I found her in here!" Harper says as she shows Kelly to the little girl
"Oh god!" Kelly whispers
"Hey there! This is my friend Kelly! He's a firefighter too!" Harper says smiling
"I'll go tell chief!" Kelly says
"Bring pepper in here too!" Harper says
"Got it!" Kelly says walking out
"Is it okay if I sit here?" Harper asks
The little girl nods as Harper sits down
"You take as much time as you need!" Harper says as the little girl climbs on top of her and cuddles her in
Harper stokes her hair and then pepper comes running in
"This is my doggy pepper!" Harper says as she lifts the little girls hand and puts it on peppers back
Pepper turns around and licks the little girls hand and the girl let's out a little laugh
"She likes you!" Harper says as she laughs
After a while the little girl falls asleep on Harper and Kelly walks in
"She must like you" Kelly whispers
"She's just scared" Harper whispers before getting up
"I'm gonna take her to my quarters" Harper says as she starts to walk out
Harper carries the little girl to her quarters and lays her down on her bed. She pulls the blanket over her and sits down at her desk. Kelly, Boden and Casey appear at her door
"How is she?" Casey asks
"She's sleeping" Harper says
"We've contacted CPD and they have put out an amber alert" Boden says
"We're just going to do a sweep of the area" Kelly says
"Tell 81 to go out with you too! I'm going to stay here just in case she wakes up" Harper says looking at the girl
"That's fine!" Boden says before they walk away
About 10 minutes later the lightning strikes and the little girl jerks awake
"Hey shhhh! It's okay! I've got you!" Harper says holding the little girls hand
The little girl scoots over initiating for Harper to lay down next to her. Harper lays down and the little girl cuddles her. Harper makes herself comfy....
