What he said brought confusion to her.

It was getting cold, but her persistence to know everything before dawn cause them to settle in front of a fireplace. The warmth generated soothed her and she stops trembling.

A maid was taking care of her wound- applying various herbs and medicine to reduce the pain then putting on bandages. The villain in front of her was pouring wine in the glasses prepared. He then gave her the other glass and she accepted it while muttering thanks.

"300 years ago," he spoke before drinking. "During the great war, the dragon who promises to give me his strength and sorcery- stupidly use it to curse a family before dying."

Even though it's just a single string of trust that connects them, it reassured him to speak freely.

The abrupt revelation causes the glass to slip from her hand. What a way to start a conversation. The maid was finished with her wounds and she started cleaning Knile's mess before leaving the two alone.

It impresses and frightens her how a plot developed by a mere human continues to creates its own past, present, and future. Even if the manga ended with a happy ending, did it really ended that way? Did the heroine really achieve a happy ending?

The more she thought of it, she's starting to reconsider everyone isn't just a character but real humans in a parallel universe. The people whom lives were destroyed by her- whom happiness was taken away by her- she came to a conclusion that she came to despise.

They were just like her, not puppets- but humans with emotions and thoughts. That they weren't just created to support this world.

But why does it even matter? For her to at least feel guilt and redemption? To pity those people?

"Is it really that shocking for you to create such mess? If you were the original Knile you will loath me, but thanks the heavens you're not." His voice snaps her from her thoughts.

'Even if I was the original Knile, you're attitude is enough for me to hate you.'

Her gaze changed direction as she lean her head on the red sofa.

"300 years ago... Are you immortal?"

"Heavens no, the thought of unable to die is terrifying. Knile, just like you- I died."

"..."

"Indeed it's unbelievable, existence itself is unbelievable- remember that time the dragon suddenly wanted to possess your body or vessel? Do you have any idea why? Aside from it dying and wanted to live more?"

"I don't have facts to support my speculation but I will still proceed. Did you manipulate it to easily gain access to your dark magic?"

"My words, you still think I'm that evil?"

"Evil is subjective, whatever your name is."

"Still, I believe everyone has free wills. The dragon chooses to do that and it can't be helped since at that time- it realized my existence and so did I. I was baffled I regain consciousness and my body that was once eaten by worms and reclaimed by the world is once again, in my possession. Strange isn't it? The dragon which is someone I knew wanted to take over your body. It wished to make things easier for me, to take back what once was mine to finish what the humans started."

'Is he referring to the war?'

"You're a human..." Muttered Kyoko.

"Not quite, my body needed mana to function and you took advantage of that even though you don't know it. This physical vessel of mine easily attracts illness, my habits of overworking worsens it. I was tempted to use magic on you but that would cause consequences for me and I don't what to deal with it. The dark magic, once I regain it I might also become a human who doesn't need to absorb someone's energy just to survive."
