I drove back to Forks because I had school that morning; it was times like that where I was grateful I didn't need sleep. As I was driving, I saw a black shape peering through the trees. Because of my enhanced vision, I was able to see that it was a wolf! It looked at me and growled, and then I recognized him; it was Sam Uley. He was the Alpha of the Quileute wolf clan. I kept my hands on the steering wheel and focused on getting home.
Suddenly, I saw a shape dart to the wolf and he chased after it. I was hit with her scent, and figured out that it was Victoria. My family definitely picked the worst time to leave.

The next day
After class, I took my usual spot in the cafeteria, away from everyone else. Then, something unexpected happened, Mike Newton asked if I wanted to sit with him and his friends.

"Um...sure," I replied hesitantly. I picked up my tray of uneaten food and joined the group at their table. The only other humans I've interacted with willingly were Riley and Bella; so this was new for me.
"So, where's the rest of your family and why didn't you go?" Angela asked curiously. "Carlisle had a medical conference and a new practice offer in New York so that would require moving the entire family, and I didn't want to go so I'm staying with my cousins up north," I explained while fiddling with the stem of my uneaten apple. "Edward wasn't too happy with me," I tried to talk as casual as possible. "Why?" Jessica asked; I knew she was intrigued with anything that had to do with my family. "He claims I'm abandoning the family," I replied. "You're capable of making your own choices, and he should respect that," Angela said kindly.
"Try telling him that," I said awkwardly. That made the rest of the group laugh, though I wasn't trying to be funny, I decided to loosen up and play along. "And I didn't want to leave my boyfriend," it seemed strange to me that I was opening up to a group of people I hardly ever spoke to. "That's really sweet, you're dating Riley Biers, right?" Jessica asked. "Yes," I nodded. "I was actually visiting him at Washington State over the weekend, and I saw one of the bears that people have been talking about while I was driving home," I said making conversation. "I saw one too!" Angela exclaimed. "I totally believe you, babe," Eric said patting her hand. "No he doesn't, he's just trying to get lucky," Jessica teased.
"My dad has been getting reports at the station," Bella had walked over to the lunch table and sat with us. "Hikers have reported getting attacked by some bear," she added.
"Welcome back, Bella. Now that you're talking and eating, would you want to go to a movie this weekend?" Mike asked her. "Yeah, I'd love to," she replied. "Great!" Mike seemed surprised. "We could check out Love Spelled Backwards is Love," he suggested. She quickly shook her head, "No, no romance. Let's see Face Punch," "Yeah, it's-it's an action movie," he stuttered awkwardly. "Yeah, guns, action, that's my thing," she said. "In fact, let's get a whole group of people," she turned to the group. "Do you guys wanna see Face Punch?" "Yeah! Mike remember we were watching the trailer and it's like boom! Punch faces!" Eric said approvingly. "Could I come?" I asked. "Yes, and Riley can come too. I want to get as many people as possible," she replied. I grinned, "Never thought you were the party animal type," "I'm not the same girl I was six months ago," she grinned modestly. "Movie night with Bella!" Jessica said with false enthusiasm. I read her mind and knew she wasn't going to follow through with our plans for the movie night.
I texted Riley and asked if he wanted to see the movie with me and some friends, and he was all for it.
He picked me up from my house and we drove to Port Angeles to meet up with Bella and the others.

Port Angeles
Riley and I held hands as we walked to where Mike was waiting outside the theater, and he was alone. I was confused, "Hey, where's everyone else?" "Bella's inside getting tickets, Jessica didn't want to come and Angela got the stomach flu, so Eric is helping her," he told me. "That's been going around hasn't it," Riley said putting his arm around me. "Yeah, I hope no one else gets it," Mike wiped beads of sweat from his forehead.
Suddenly, there was a boy that looked like he was waiting for someone. He looked about sixteen, and he had long black hair and tan skin. I could immediately smell the wolf off of him. I plastered a smile on my face to show I wasn't bothered and I didn't want to hiss in front of everyone. Bella came back with the tickets and we went inside to the movie.
Riley and I had the next row above Bella, Mike, and the boy named Jacob. I couldn't have imagined a more awkward situation, and it got even more awkward when I saw Mike and Jacob put their hands on their side of the arm rests, implying that they wanted to hold Bella's hand. That sight was more entertaining than the movie. I needed to keep my distance from Jacob so the treaty wouldn't be broken.
"Are you okay?" Riley whispered. "Yeah, I'll explain later," I promised. We tried to focus on the rest of the movie, but that was cut short when Mike ran out of the theater and to the bathroom to throw up. He had either caught the stomach flu or the movie was too much for him. "Well, that was unexpected," "Indeed," I agreed.
Bella and Jacob were sitting on the stairs of the movie theater and he had his arm around her. I narrowed my eyes at him, if Edward could see what was going on then he would be beyond angry.
"Is everything okay?" Riley asked them, not letting go of my hand. Bella nodded, "Everything's fine," "Good, hopefully no one else gets sick," I was striving to not sound bitter, but it came out like that anyway. I was fighting a hiss that was threatening to escape my throat.

Just then, Mike came out of the bathroom looking pale as a ghost. "I need to go home," he said. "I was feeling sick before the movie-"
I saw Jacob glare at him like he was ready to punch him.
"What is your problem?" Mike demanded. "Right now, you are my problem," Jacob scowled. "Feeling sick? Maybe you need to go to the hospital." He quickly got up and sauntered towards Mike, "Do you want me to put you in the hospital?!" "And that's our cue to leave," I took Riley's hand and we left.
