19. The Event

Zai's POV

My entire afternoon was filled with me smiling and just smiling.

My husband's words kept on echoing in my thoughts again and again.

"I will do my best to make things right for us. Sorry for the past few months. I'm so lucky to have you. I love you so much Zainab Abdurahman Luqman."

Alhamdulillah! All of my nights of worrying and crying are now over. My husband is back, so back. So I guess I would be in no need of step number five.

"Fifth, is... when all the four things still cannot unfrozen his coldness and indifference towards you, leave. For good. And let somebody else love you right."

I believe that Allah is Merciful and HE will make my happily ever after with the only man I have ever loved this much. In shaa Allah.

Feeling elated, I finished wearing my house dress and lay down on my bed. I will sleep the entire afternoon. My exhaustion kicked in the moment I closed my eyes.

Aaron's POV

I wore my white suit and dark blue tie and looked myself in the mirror. This night, I aim to not lower my gaze but look for a wife that could change the condition of my heart. I wish it was just that easy. I wish.

"Aaron, Troy is here," my Mom called out

I got my wallet and keys and headed downstairs. Troy was wearing a green gamis (long muslim wear for muslim man). Wow, he looks so religious and formal with his white kupya (male head covering).

"Assalamu alaykum man! How do I look?" he asked with his hand on his kupya. Why does he look nervous?

"Wa alaykumusalam. You look like a decent Muslim man. No one would know that you wait for a month before you do your laundry," I teased.

"Come on man, I'm serious. There's this girl I really like and she'll be at the event tonight," he confessed with a serious tone.

"Woah! News flash there! Alright, tell me all about her in the car."

Inside the car, I discovered who Troy was having an interest with. It was Cherry Anderson, Zai's bestfriend who is also a Muslim revert. They met when Troy's sister asked him to accompany her in their shop for a mass orders of book marks in his sister's orphanage library launch.

"So have you communicated with her?"

"Ah.. .yah, over facebook," he answered shyly.

I laughed.

"Why are you laughing?"

"Just happy for you young man! But hey, try not to do that anymore. You know how Allah commands us to do things halal."

"Yeah, I know. I only need to get a loan and marry her."

I turned the car to the left and think things through. Should I tell him it's not a good idea? Loans with interest falls under haram things. But knowing Troy, he really does not have a choice.

"That's haram man. There might be no barakah in there. I suggest you simplify your nikah, rent an apartment or bring her into your house temporarily. Allah will provide generously just as long as we stay obedient to HIM. In shaa Allah."
