That's right, the rumours are true! Cynthia Somerhalder, younger sister of Ian Somerhalder the star of TVD, will be returning to the show in the upcoming season 3!
Rumours have been circling all week after this post (below) on Instagram, featuring Paul Wesley who plays Stefan on the show.

For newcomers to the show, Cynthia plays the role of Charlotte (Char) Salvatore, sister to Damon and Stefan. She was introduced late in the first season after Elena discovered a picture of her as a child in Stefan's room and the details of her "death" were explained. However, as is the case with so many other deaths in the show, there was seemingly more to the story and before long it was revealed that Damon's blood had been in her system and the two had been in regular contact since despite the lies being fed to Stefan. At the end of last season her character claimed to be leaving town however after coming to the realisation that her brothers would always choose each other over her.
Today, Cynthia was spotted out and about near the set and a coworker confided in E!News earlier this morning that she was in fact heading into hair and makeup!
Here at E!News, we hope that Cynthia will be staying for good this time and we'll get to see both the Somerhalder's on our screens in June when the new season airs!
