After class I showed Steve around. He wasn't like most guys I'd ever met. He seemed shy, which was surprising since he was so good looking. "So, you do any sports Steve?"

"I played football at my old school, but I don't know if I'll try out."

"You should! I'm sure you'd be great."

He smiled, and I noticed his cheeks were turning red. He turned away in embarrassment. I looked at my watch and realized I was late. "I'm sorry, Steve. I really gotta go, but it was good meeting you!"

"You too, Tony. See you around."

That night when I got home I couldn't get Steve out of my head. I had liked boys before, but never like this. I don't know what it was, it just felt like we were meant to be together.

But it could never happen. No one knew I was gay. And it was going to stay that way.

I went up to my room and crawled into my bed. I looked at the pill bottle next to my bed. I had thought a lot about suicide. In fact, I had thought about it so much, I pretty much had it all planned out.

My doctor just said "keep taking your pills," but it never seemed to work.
