Dressed casually in a white, flowy vest top with denim skinny jeans, Tori walked into her biology class just as the late bell sounded in the hallway. Tori paid no mind to the students who suddenly stopped their conversations and stared at her, or the ones that began whispering under their breaths. Mr. Molina looked at the girl before smiling and walking towards her.

"Ah, I was wondering when you would be in my lessons. Would you like to introduce yourself to the class?"

With a smile, Tori faced the class, " I'm Tori Cabaletta." The girl showed no signs of nervousness as she stood in the spotlight of everyone's stares.

Mr Molina nodded with a smile before handing over a few textbooks.

"Let's see... you'll be sitting next to uh... Mr. Hale." He pointed to the empty space next to the said boy, close to the back of the class.

Tori nodded with a smile before walking down the isle of tables. She slipped into her seat as Mr Molina started the lesson. She grabbed her pens out her bag then placed her bag on the floor; as soon as she sat back upright, she turned to face Jasper with a kind, bright smile. Jasper turned to meet her gaze, piercing gold eyes meeting warm brown. Jasper was certain if he had a beating heart, it would be pounding against his chest. Tori turned to face the front, a look of concentration on her face as she wrote down the notes from the board. The boy beside her completely disregarded Mr Molina's lectures as he kept his eyes trained on the girl beside him, finding it impossible to take his eyes of her.

This didn't go unnoticed by Tori. Finishing her sentence, she turned her head to face Jasper again. With an eyebrow quirked she whispered, "You know, it's a little strange... to stare at someone...in the middle of class."

Jasper's eyes widened at the familiar phrase, his mind flipping back to the forest. Tori noticed his strange reaction, her eyes glinting in amusement as she smirked. Jasper coughed awkwardly, "Sorry."

He shook his head slightly as he faced the front; if he had the warmth of human blood flowing through his veins he knew his cheeks would be dusted with a blush. Not a second went by before he saw her hand outstretched out the corner of his eye. His head snapped the meet her gaze.

"Tori Cabaletta, but you already knew that." She smiled, looking into his mesmerizing eyes. When he didn't respond, she reached forward and grasped his hand gently.

Ice met Fire

For the first time in over a century, Jasper felt warmth. Such a foreign feeling, a warmth that spread from his fingers over his hand, travelling through every nerve and reaching up his arm; A pleasant warmth. Tori didn't flinch at the ice cold sensation like most people would; although she was used to warm body temperatures like the packs', the cold didn't really faze her.

"Jasper Hale ma'am." he finally spoke.

Tori didn't hide her pleasant surprise as she quirked an eyebrow with a smile, "Southern huh?"

Jasper gave a nod, a small smile gracing his lips.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Jasper."

Jasper's smile grew into a lopsided grin as his heart fluttered at the sound of his name rolling off her lips.

"And you, Tori."

Tori grinned as she faced the front, both of them focusing on the lesson. Jasper couldn't help but steal a glance at the beautiful girl next to him in curiosity every once in awhile. It had only been thirty minutes but he was desperate to speak with her again so he wracked his brain for anything to converse about.

"Y-You weren't in school..." Jasper trailed off, slowly bringing his eyes to watch as she turned to face him, confused. Her eyes suddenly widened in realisation,

"Ohhhh, yeah I'm kinda switching between the school down at the Rez and here... Just a change of scenery and I thought, why not?"

"Do you live down there then?" Jasper leaned if slightly, as if this was vital information.

"Uh huh, I live on the edge of a small beach, east side of the Rez. It's quiet but calming, you know." Tori rambled, a small smile on her face. Something about the word calming triggered Jasper's mind; How had he not have tried this sooner? He couldn't help but tense as he strained to feel her emotions. Jasper knew Edward had no luck reading any of her thoughts but was pleasantly surprised when he felt a faint scent of happiness. It was similar to the faint heartbeat of a dying animal, quiet and barely noticeable.

Tori watched Jasper with curiosity, wondering if he were in pain. But they can't feel pain, only injuries and physical damage right? Was he trying to use his vamp voodoo on me?

The bell rang signalling the end of the lesson. Tori grabbed her bag, stuffing her belongings into it, slinging it over her shoulder as she turned to face Jasper, who sat still observing the girl with a fond smile.

"I'll see you around, Hale." She grinned as Jasper's eyes lit up, a lopsided smile appearing.
