Cameron and Morgan

You kicked pebbles down the street – that desperately needed to be paved. Your bag was held tightly against your side; your shoulder ached from the weight. The pack was filled to the bulge with your makeup and hair products. You continually glanced down at your phone, where the Maps app was pulled up, directing you to the designated photography studio.

You took the fashion and makeup class at your high school, and were the best student in the class. You were head of the makeup and costumes chair for the school’s drama club and were in on all of the new trends. Your FAM (fashion and makeup) teacher at school recommended you as an intern at the local headquarters of the Vanity Teen magazine and website as an up and coming makeup artist. You took makeup religiously, and were always interested on how you could broaden your skills. Your fashion blog on Tumblr and your makeup YouTube channel were two of the most popular, and you loved the fame you were getting from your fans.

Today, Mrs. Miller, the secretary at Vanity Teen you had been communicating with, had asked you to come in and do the makeup for a new model they were getting. This model was just guesting, and you decided it would be a good experience and you get you a lot of publicity. So, at 6:30 in the morning, you got out of your bed and dragged your huge makeup/hair bag out and walked to the studio.

As the elevator doors opened to the Vanity Teen office, you were shocked at the number of people in the space – not very many. There was a woman sitting at the desk right in front of the elevator doors, and you guessed that she was Mrs. Miller. Approaching the desk, you took a look at your surroundings. There was a long hallway with doors on either side. Through the windows, you could see an assortment of rooms. Some had long lit vanities, some had colored backdrops, and the one at the far end of the hallway led to a large balcony, shadowing over the city of Chino Hills.

“How may I help you?” Mrs. Miller asked. You gave her a warm smile.

“I’m Morgan… the new makeup artist? The high school student,” you told her.

“Oh, right this way,” she said, gesturing to the second door on the right. It opened up to a large dressing room. On the wall to your left, you saw a row of three vanity tables, the lights fully turn on and bright. The left side had been filled with mirrors, and there was a large runway-type-thing in the back. It was like a small circular stage, ones that brides stand on when their dresses are being hemmed.

“The model and photographer will be with you in a minute. You may set your things up if you wish,” Mrs. Miller said with a grin before closing the door behind her as she walked out. You looked around one last time and stared yourself down in the vanity mirror. Your hair was brown; you didn’t like it, but your mom always told you it was classy and pretty. What you did like was your eyes – green and brown mixed together… you thought they were beautifully colored. Just as you were running your right hand through your hair, the door behind you burst open and in came running a teenaged boy who looked about your age. He was laughing hysterically, panting as he slammed the door shut.

“Well hello to you,” you said, still confused about why a teenage boy was here.

“Oh hi!” he said, noticing you. He shook his head full of beautiful shiny brown hair before outstretching a hand towards you. “You are?”

“Well… I’m the makeup artist, Morgan. The real question is who are you?” you asked, raising an eyebrow at the extremely attractive boy. He smirked, his brown eyes lighting up. When he smiled at you, his bright white teeth glimmered in the lights from the vanities. When you took his hand, you could feel him flinch a little. You looked down at your hands, your delicate artistic ones gripped tightly in his huge strong ones. It looked like such a drastic change in style, but somehow seemed to work… like Beauty and the Beast.

“I’m Cameron,” he said, finally looking in your eyes. He seemed to get lost, but soon snapped back to reality. “Dallas,” he added quickly. You nodded. You took a liking to him, but were still skeptical of his presence.

“Why are you here?” you asked, trying to put it lightly, trying to make it not seem like an insult.

“I’m modeling. Vanity Teen asked me to guest.” You were doing his makeup? A boy? Why would such an attractive boy like him need any makeup? You wondered. But you just nodded, acting like it was normal.

Just as you were looking at each other awkwardly, a flamboyant character dressed in abstract clothes burst through the door and waved her arms about.

“Ahh! My two new teens! I’m so excited to have you! I’m Angelica Rivers, the shoot director.” she said, shaking each of your hands vigorously while she talked in a voice that mildly reminded you of Effie Trinket. You told her your name quietly, as did Cameron, but she soon cut you off as she talked loudly and paced the room.

“Now, for all the classic shoots we’ve done, I’m going to need you, Morgan,” she pointed straight at you, “to have the words written across Mr. Dallas’ chest in big black bold letters… all caps, yes all caps, that’s good.” You nodded at her instructions. “And I need you to dress him in some… hmm… black jeans, yes, black, and a big black belt. But not sagging pants, Mr.” she said to Cameron. He blushed a little and laughed, chewing his gum loudly. “None of our readers should see a sexy shirtless boy and a boy who sags his pants down low in the same picture! Gosh, they’d have a heart attack!” She laughed at her own words with a high pitched giggle before giving us the thumbs up and leaving the room.

“Wait… Mrs. Rivers?” you called to her. She didn’t come back.

“What do you need?” Cameron asked.

“You’re going to be shirtless? So I have to paint on your… your real… bare chest?” You said, uncertain and slightly hesitant. Not that you didn’t enjoy seeing beautiful shirtless boys… but it was a bit strange.

“Of course. I wouldn’t be half as attractive that way,” Cameron chuckled. Your face blushed slightly. How could he be any more attractive than he is right now? Is that even possible? You thought to yourself.

“Well, let’s get started.” You began to take your black paint that was safe for the skin. As you were grabbing a couple brushes, Cameron began to take off his blue t-shirt, leaving him in a white undershirt. You could see his biceps through the sleeves, and your heart rate increased. A couple of butterflies fluttered in your stomach, and you could feel your hands getting clammy.

“You nervous or something?” he asked you, genuinely concerned about your wellbeing. You shook your head quickly. He shrugged to himself and continued to strip himself of the undershirt. As you finally glanced up, having found the brushes you needed, you almost drooled at the sight of his torso. Perfectly sculpted abs stood out to you… and you could see a prominent V-line tracing down to his dark wash jeans. You began to stare until he snapped his fingers in front of your face a little. “Ready?” you nodded, asking him to sit down in one of the vanity chairs. He obeyed and you kneeled right in front of him as you squeezed a little of the paint onto your brush. He looked at you, mesmerized a little, but just stared as you began writing the word ‘vanity’ across his chest.

He laughed to himself, the paint very cold. As you were painting, he kept asking you question: how old you were, where you were from, what school you went to, what you like to do. They were semi-normal question until he asked you the last question of the day. While you were painting on the letter ‘n’ in the word ‘teen’, he suddenly blurted out, “do you have a boyfriend?” the words came really fast and mushed together, but you could understand him perfectly.

You blushed before answer. “No,” you gave a half hearted laugh trying to cover up your face. He suddenly reached out and took your hand.

“Well… I’d like to see you again, Morgan. Wanna go on a date sometime?” Your eyes widened. This beautiful… no gorgeous boy, Cameron Dallas, just asked you on a date? How could this be? Somehow you gathered your thoughts quick enough to answer.

“Of course. That’d be great.” He leaned down and kissed you softly on the lips before heading out the door to the balcony, where for the rest of the day, you sat and watched him model. He continually smiled and winked at you.

Cameron Dallas, you thought, beautiful.

Little did you know, he was thinking the same thing about you.
