We all sat around a little field right by the lake for school. I sat in the middle of Adam and Ken, listening to what Miss MacKay is teaching us. 

"Ancient Greece was the beginning of Western civilization. See, in Greece, they didn't have professional sports... or Wheaties boxes. So the athletes competed for another reason. Anybody?" Miss MacKay asked us. 

"Falafels?" Goldberg randomly guessed. 

Everybody groaned; some laughed. "You wish, Goldberg." I commented.

"Charlie?" I look over as he put his hand down before responding.

"Pride," he answered. 

"That's right. The various City-States waved their flags and wore their home colors proudly."

"Did America always dominate?" Fulton asked. I giggled a bit. 

"No. America wasn't around back then. Don't forget that compared to other countries, America is still young, still forming it's own identity. America is a teenager just like you."

"Like us?" Jesse asked. 

"You bet. A little awkward at times, but always right there on the verge of greatness." 

I looked over at Adam; he smiled warmly at me — I smiled back. I looked away and at Charlie, his cheeks were flushed red. 

I giggled as he looked away embarrassed. 

Oh. Shit.

After school;

We all skated behind Coach who was driving what looked like a golf cart. 

"I don't know but I been told." Coach chanted for us to repeat. 

"I don't know but I been told." I chanted along with the rest of my team. 

"Team U.S.A's gonna win the gold." 

"U.S.A's gonna win the gold." 

"Listen up and listen good."

"Listen up and listen good." I breathed out as I jumped up with the rest of my team. I landed with a soft grunt and continued skating. I went around and in front of Coach with the rest of my team down the road.  

"We're all headed for Hollywood."

"We're all headed for Hollywood." 

"Sound off,"

"One, two."

"Sound off,"

"Three, four." 

The next day - On the plane (Six hour flight);
